An electrical connector includes an insulative portion, a plurality of terminals supported by the insulative portion and are disposed in a row, and a lossy member. Each of the terminals includes a first end, a mounting end, and an intermediate portion. The lossy member includes a body portion elongated in a row direction and a plurality of projections extending from the body portion toward the first ends of a subset of the terminals. Each of the terminals includes a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, with the first face including a first contact region. The projections of the lossy member are aligned with the second surfaces of the subset of terminals. Upon mating the electrical connector to a complementary connector, the terminals may deflect towards the projections of the lossy member, improving contact with the lossy member and thus improving its effectiveness.

FLOATING CONNECTOR

A floating connector comprises a movable housing, a regulating member and a plurality of contacts. Each of the contacts is made of a single metal plate. Each of the contacts has a fixed portion, a regulated portion, a held portion, an extending portion, a contact portion and a coupling portion. The coupling portion is resiliently deformable. The movable housing is movable within a predetermined range in a plane perpendicular to an up-down direction by the resilient deformation of the coupling portion. The coupling portion has a first portion, a second portion and a bent portion. Each of the first portion and second portion has a principal surface. The principal surface of the first portion faces in a first direction. The principal surface of the second portion faces in a second direction. The first direction and the second direction are different from each other.

CONNECTOR FOR LOW LOSS INTERCONNECTION SYSTEM

A modular electrical connector facilitates low loss connections to components on a printed circuit board. A portion is of the connector is formed of one or more first type units with conductive elements designed to be attached to a printed circuit board. Signals passing through those units may be routed to components on the printed circuit board through traces in the board. One or more second type units may be integrated with the connector. Those units may be designed for attachment to a cable, which may provide signal paths to a location on the printed circuit board near relatively distant components.
