Enhanced auto-monitoring circuit and method for an electrical device
09774181 · 2017-09-26 · ·

A resettable switching apparatus, useful in a GFCI receptacle, has an auto-monitoring circuit for automatically testing various functions and structures of the device. The auto-monitoring circuit initiates an auto-monitoring routine which, among other things, establishes a test fault situation on either the positive or negative half-wave of the power cycle and determines whether the detection mechanisms within the device appropriately detect the test fault and whether the device would trip in the event of an actual fault. Additional functionality of the auto-monitoring circuit permits automatic verification that the device is properly wired, that is, not miswired, and determines whether the device has reached the end of its useful life.

Collective ground connection structure for connectors

Connectors with internal noise filter (10A, 10B) are provided with a uniting means (17, 18) for uniting the connectors with internal noise filters with each other. A terminal fitting (20) connected to one electrode portion (32A) of a capacitor (30) is provided in a connector housing (11a, 11B). A ground connection terminal (40A, 40B) is composed of an electrode connecting portion (42) to be connected to the other electrode portion (32B) of the capacitor (30) and a ground connection portion (41A, 41B) extending outwardly of the connector housing (11A, 11B) from the electrode connecting portion (42) and including a bolt hole (46H) into which a bolt (B) is fittable. When the respective connectors with internal noise filter (10A, 10B) are united by the uniting means (17, 18), the respective ground connection portions (41A, 41B) are overlapped and the respective bolt holes (46H) are aligned.

A cable connector is provided which includes an insulating body including a frame which defines a region therein; a plurality of electrical terminals fixed to the insulating body and extended into the region; and a plurality of cables electrically connected to the electrical terminals respectively in the region. The region is filled with an insulator to embed the electrical terminals and the cables. The cable connector has a relatively high reliability.

Flexible electrical connector insert with conductive and non-conductive elastomers

A connector insert comprising conductive wire and a plurality of layers of conductive and non-conductive elastomers, and methods of fabrication thereof.

Intrinsic safe in-line adaptor with integrated capacitive barrier for connecting a wireless module with antenna

An intrinsic safe in-line adaptor with an integrated capacitive barrier for connecting a wireless module with an antenna. The in-line adaptor (e.g., N-type to N-type) can be designed to include an intrinsic safe circuit and the integrated capacitive barrier. The intrinsic safe circuit further includes a multi-layer PCB and the PCB can be potted and sealed with a mechanical metal casing. The intrinsic safe capacitive barrier can be integrated with a coaxial connector and mounted as part of a flameproof enclosure to meet an explosion safety standard and an intrinsic safety requirement. The mechanical metal casing can be isolated by the enclosure (e.g., rubber) to meet isolation requirements. The wireless module can be directly connected with the antenna utilizing the in-line adaptor via the coaxial connector and without any specific cable assembly.

DISCRETE PACKAGING ADAPTER FOR CONNECTOR

An adapter has two conductors each with a U-shaped bend forming upper longer legs and lower shorter legs. The conductors face each other with the longer legs linearly aligned with each other and the shorter legs aligned with each other, thereby forming a first gap between the longer legs and a second gap between the shorter legs. The first gap is substantially smaller than the second gap, so that an electrical package can be placed across the first gap to contact the two upper longer legs, while the two shorter legs are spaced further apart to span a larger gap between conductors of a connector. Thus, the adapter enables the electrical package to be connected to conductors having a gap that is larger than the electrical package.

BOARD-EDGE INTERCONNECTION MODULE WITH INTEGRATED CAPACITIVE COUPLING FOR ENABLING ULTRA-MOBILE COMPUTING DEVICES

A board-edge interconnection module features integrated capacitive coupling, which enables a board design employing the module to avoid having AC capacitors and flexible cables with bulky connectors. The recovered real estate enables further miniaturization, enabling the component to be used on a wide variety of devices, including ultra-mobile computing devices.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WITH LOW-STRESS, REDUCED-ELECTRICAL-LENGTH CONTACTS

An electrical connector adapted to receive a mating plug utilizes low-profile jack terminal contacts that can flex in their PCB-anchored base portions, which are substantially parallel to the PCB. Any bend in the distal connecting portion or in the intermediate transition portion of each terminal contact is gradual and forms an obtuse angle, thus minimizing stress concentrations. The contacts preferably are arranged in two oppositely facing and interdigitating rows of four contacts each. In one embodiment, the terminal contacts are anchored to the PCB by a contact cradle that constrains the base portion of each terminal contact at two spaced anchoring locations, allowing the base portion to flex therebetween. In another embodiment, the base portions of the terminal contacts are embedded in at least one elastomeric member, which is fitted to the PCB.
