A power over Ethernet (PoE) interface for 10GBase-T Ethernet includes at least one communication channel Ethernet interface including an autotransformer having a center tap for coupling direct current (DC) power. A combination of the geometry of the toroid core of the autotransformer and in some embodiments of a common mode choke, as well as the wire twisting, the wire distribution and the wire routing allow maximizing bandwidth up to or greater than 500 MHz for 10GBase-T performance by increasing the coupling and reducing capacitance across the wires, and results in return and insertion losses and OCL that meet anticipated standards.

The subject disclosure relates improved common mode choke (CMC) and integrated connector module (ICM) designs for Ethernet applications. Some aspects provide an improved CMC component, including an upper chassis element having a first plurality of comb structures vertically protruding from an edge of the upper chassis element, and a lower chassis element comprising a second plurality of comb structures vertically protruding from an edge of the lower chassis element, the second plurality of comb structures configured to interlock with the first plurality of comb structures to form an enclosure when the upper chassis element is mechanically coupled with the lower chassis element.

Technologies for providing DC arc protection in a DC socket include an electromagnet positioned in the DC socket configured to produce a magnetic field. The electromagnet is positioned to be adjacent to a contact region between one or more supply terminals of a DC socket and one or more prongs of a DC plug. As the DC plug is disconnected from the DC socket, a DC arc might form between one or more of the supply terminals and one or more of the prongs. The magnetic field produced by the electromagnet reduces the energy of the DC arc and reduces the time duration of the DC arc.

Intrinsically safe electrical connector

Provided is an electrical connector (10) comprising supply side and load side housings (12) and (30 that are connectable by means of female socket (22) and male plug (32). The connector (10) includes an AC input (14) with input protection (18) for receiving an AC supply (16), a primary rectifier arrangement (20) configured to rectify the AC input (14) to a DC input, a female socket (22) having a single layer air-cored supply coil (24) sealed within the socket (22), and a capacitor arranged in series with the supply coil (24) to form a series resonant LC arrangement (26). Also included is a half-bridge resonant converter switched mode power supply arrangement (28) supplied from the DC input and driving the supply coil (24) to produce a symmetrical AC waveform, said converter configured with a switching frequency substantially matched to a resonant frequency of the series resonant LC arrangement. Power is transferrable to load coil (34) sealed within male plug (32), which includes a secondary rectifier arrangement (36) configured to rectify an AC waveform induced within the load coil (34) to produce a DC output for supply to a load (40).

COMPACT GENERATOR TERMINAL

A terminal for a power generator includes an electrical conductor comprising a cavity and end member. The end member is configured to be disposed inside the power generator and receive electrical power from the power generator. A stud is disposed into the cavity of the electrical conductor. Accordingly, the terminal can be directly coupled into the power generator without straps or other intermediate equipment to provide electrical power to the terminal.
