A charging plug for an electrically driven vehicle has a feed line for electrically connecting the charging plug to a charging infrastructure. The charging plug includes power contacts, a signal contact, a rectifier, and a control and protection device. The power contacts and signal contact electrically connect the charging plug to the vehicle. The rectifier is connected to the feed line and to the power contacts for converting an alternating current obtained by the feed line into a direct current that is delivered by the power contacts to the vehicle in a charging process. The control and protection device is connected to the feed line, to the power contacts and to the signal contact for matching the charging process to the vehicle by means of the signal contact.

Overload prevention in a power distribution unit with electrical power outlet sockets

An electrical power distribution unit for overload prevention is provided. The power distribution unit has a plurality of electrical power outlet sockets each for receiving a power plug and a power distribution system for supplying electrical power to each of the sockets. The power distribution unit includes an excess power detector for detecting an aggregate power drawn from the plurality of sockets and for actuating a disabling mechanism for disabling power supply for a subset of the sockets in response to the detected aggregate power exceeding a predetermined first threshold, wherein the subset of the sockets are sockets that are detected as currently not drawing power.

Solid dielectric deadfront electrical switch assembly

A solid dielectric deadfront electrical switch assembly having a switch contact assembly. The switch contact assembly can include an upper insulative diaphragm, a male pin contact having an insulating tip and an isolating sleeve, a primary contact, a lower insulative diaphragm, and a female socket contact. The upper insulative diaphragm, isolating sleeve, and insulating tip can assist in electrically isolating the male contact pin when the electrical switch assembly is in an open condition. Further, the upper insulative diaphragm can be separated from the female socket contact, and/or a female-contact insulating sleeve, by a gap chamber that utilizes air as an insulator. The lower insulative diaphragm can be configured to engage a drive rod that is used to axially displace the male pin contact between open and closed positions in a manner that may prevent arcing between the switch contact assembly and a base plate of a switchgear.

A circuit to protect an overvoltage in a universal serial bus (USB) device include an overvoltage protection (OVP) switch connected to a pin of a USB receptacle and a switch controller to turn off the OVP switch when an overvoltage is detected such that power between the pin and the USB device is interrupted. The switch controller supplies a control signal to the OVP switch such that the OVP switch has a first on-resistance when the USB device is operating in a normal mode and no overvoltage is detected, and has a second on-resistance, higher than the first on-resistance, when the USB device is operating in a low-power mode and no overvoltage is detected.

Electric leakage protector

An electric leakage protector includes a reset mechanism, a breaker mechanism, and a current detecting mechanism. The current detecting mechanism is used to control the breaker mechanism which includes a separated elastic member driving the moving contact to descend, and the reset mechanism includes a reset column, a connecting member, a first reset elastic member, a moving seat, and a second reset elastic member. The separated elastic member is coupled to the connecting member through the moving seat, and the reset column has a latch groove for latching the connecting member. The breaker mechanism is used to drive the connecting member to retreat from the latch groove, and the second reset elastic member is used to drive the reset column to ascend. After the reset column descends, the first reset elastic member drives the connecting member to be latched into the latch groove to miniaturize the electric leakage protector.
