MONITORING OF DEVICES
This application relates to monitoring of electronic devices (100) and in particular to methods and apparatus for the detection and recording of an electrical overstress applied to a connector (101, 102) of the device. The apparatus describes an integrated circuit integrated circuit (103, 105, 106a) of the host device having a first set of one or more circuit contacts (201, 203, 204, 205) for connection to a connector (101) of a host electronic device. The circuit has an electrical overstress monitor (106, 106a) for detecting and recording an electrical overstress comprising a voltage exceeding a predetermined parameter applied to at least one of said first set of circuit contacts. The electrical overstress monitor (106) may have an overvoltage detector (205) and may have a memory (206) for recording the occurrence of an overvoltage and/or a communication module (207) for communicating with other components of the host device in the event of an electrical overstress.
Disconnection arc prevention in cable-supplied power connection
Power delivery may be controlled to help prevent arcing when a data cable supplying power from a power source device to a power sink device is disconnected. The presence of a user in proximity to a connection between a cable plug and a cable receptacle may be detected. The level of a power signal being conveyed from the power source to the power sink may be reduced in response to the detection.

Anti-theft device for monitoring a universal serial bus type C connector
An anti-theft device for monitoring Type C USB connector. An alarm module has a first terminal and a second terminal. A male plug has a first conductive member in electrical communication with the first terminal and a second conductive member in electrical communication with the second terminal. When the male plug is positioned within the receptacle, a closed electric circuit forms between the first and second conductive members. The alarm module supplies an electric current to the first terminal and monitors the electric current flowing to the second terminal. Responsive to detecting an interruption in the electric current flowing between the first and the second terminals, the alarm module transmits an alarm signal.

An electrical connection point configured to electrically connect an electric load in a dwelling to a power grid. The connection point includes: a wall block, including first connection elements, the wall block configured to be mounted securely in a wall of the dwelling such that the first connection elements are electrically connected to corresponding portions of the grid; and a functional block configured to provide a specific electric function and including second connecting elements, wherein the functional block is configured to be removably mounted in the wall block, and thus interchangeable, the attachment providing the electrical connection of the second connection elements to the corresponding portions of the grid via the first connection elements, to allow the electric function to be brought into service.

A power cable connector assembly includes: an electrical connector including an insulative housing, a number of contacts retained in the insulative housing, and an outer case enclosing the insulative housing; a cable electrically connecting with the electrical connector, the cable including a number of core wires connected with corresponding contacts and a number of control wires; and a sensor enclosed by the outer case, the sensor including a number of conductive wires connected with corresponding control wires and a mounting portion, the mounting portion having a through hole for fixing the sensor to the insulative housing.

A power control device is contained within a housing and has an electric current sensor configured to measure current passing through an electric outlet during a time period, a proximity sensor configured to detect a distance of an object relative to the electric outlet during the time period, a relay switch that can open or close to stop or conduct current through a circuit in the electric outlet in response to a command, and a wireless network interface in communication with the electric current sensor and the proximity sensor, the wireless network interface configured to transmit and receive data from the current sensor and the proximity sensor, to transmit commands to the relay switch, transmit the data to a computing device, and receive commands from the computing device.

A busbar (21) is provided for electrically connecting a temperature detecting member 40 to adjacent electrode terminals (12A, 12B) of unit cells (11). The busbar (21) is overlapped with the electrode terminals (12A, 12B) of the unit cells (11). The temperature detecting member (40) includes a plate-like heat transfer plate (42) that is overlapped in an area of the busbar (21) other than an area of the busbar (21) that is to be laser-welded to the electrode terminals (12A, 12B) and is attached to the busbar (21) by laser welding.

An electrical connector assembly includes a first connector member, a second connector member configured for connection with the first connector member, a first insulator disposed at least partially in the first connector member and/or the second connector member, a second insulator disposed at least partially in the first connector member and/or the second connector member, and a circuit board configured to be disposed at least partially between the first insulator and the second insulator in a connected configuration of the electrical connector assembly. The circuit board may include an electrical characteristic sensor and/or a temperature sensor.
