A discharge device for discharging electric currents from a rotor part of a machine, in particular a rotor part with a shaft, into a stator part, the discharge device having a contact element, a support and a spring mechanism, the support being connectable to a stator part in an electrically conductive manner, the contact element being predominantly made of carbon, the contact element being accommodated on the support in an axially movable manner and connected to it in an electrically conductive manner, a contact force applicable to the contact element by the spring mechanism so as to establish an electrically conductive sliding contact between a sliding contact surface of the contact element to establish the sliding contact, and an axial shaft contact surface of the shaft, wherein the contact element is disk-shaped, the sliding contact surface being at least annular and disposable coaxially relative to the shaft contact surface.

Shaft-grounding ring

The invention relates to a shaft-grounding ring which is used to remove induced voltages or electric charges from a first machine element (68), preferably from a shaft, into a second machine element (69) and has an annular housing (1), which consists of electrically conductive material and is conductively connected to the one machine element (68, 69) and has an electrically conductive connection to at least one discharging element (8). The discharging element consists of an electrically conductive material and has an electrically conductive connection to the other machine element. The discharging element (8) is a disk-shaped discharging body that extends at least over part of the circumference thereof.

The contact element is circular, the sliding contact surface being at least annular in shape and being disposed coaxially in relation to the shaft contact surface, the spring means comprising a circular support section (15) which at least in part coaxially envelops the shaft of the machine, the support section being configured for radially abutting against an abutment surface of the stator part.

The current shunter is located radially inside the peripheral wall, and the flange portion is located between the current shunter and the bottom wall in an axial direction.

A surgical instrument includes a body assembly, a shaft assembly extending distally from the body assembly along a shaft axis, and an end effector at a distal end of the shaft assembly. The shaft assembly includes an outer tube configured to rotate relative to the body assembly about the shaft axis. The surgical instrument further includes a slip ring assembly configured to enable electrical communication between the shaft assembly and the body assembly while permitting relative rotation therebetween. The slip ring assembly includes a first electrical contact supported by the outer tube, and a second electrical contact electrically coupled with the first electrical contact and positioned radially outward of the outer tube. The first electrical contact is configured to rotate with the outer tube about the shaft axis relative to the second electrical contact while the first and second electrical contacts remain electrically coupled.

The assembly includes a grounding rope member including a plurality of conductive wires extending along the length of the grounding rope member and one or more discrete fixation points intermediate the first and second ends of the grounding rope member. Two or more of the plurality of conductive wires are affixed together at each of the discrete fixation points.
