Surgical shaft assemblies with watertight housings

A slip ring assembly is used with a surgical shaft assembly. The slip ring assembly includes a first housing portion, a first connector supported in the first housing portion, and a first conductor mounted on the first connector. The slip ring assembly also includes a second housing portion, wherein one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion is rotatable relative to the other, a second connector supported in the second housing portion, and a second conductor mounted on the second connector, wherein the second conductor is in contact with the first conductor. An interface between the first housing portion and the second housing portion, wherein the interface is configured to effect a seal between the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

Monolithic MAX phase ternary alloys for sliding electrical contacts

The present invention relates to monolithic structures for use as an electrical contact. In particular, these structures are formed from a laminate alloy, which in turn is composed of a M.sub.n+1AX.sub.n compound. Electrical contact assemblies and electrical components having such contacts are also described herein. In some example, such monolithic structures display increased wear resistance, which is useful for sliding electrical contacts.

SURGICAL SHAFT ASSEMBLIES WITH SLIP RING ASSEMBLIES WITH INCREASED CONTACT PRESSURE

A slip ring assembly is usable with a surgical shaft assembly. The slip ring assembly includes a first connector flange comprising a conductor. The slip ring assembly further includes a second connector flange comprising a conductive element in contact with the conductor, wherein the second connector flange is rotatable relative to the first connector flange. In addition, the slip ring assembly also includes a support member, wherein the second connector flange is sandwiched between the first connector flange and the support member, and wherein the support member is configured to apply a load onto the second connector flange to maintain the contact between the conductor and the conductive element.

SURGICAL SHAFT ASSEMBLIES WITH FLEXIBLE INTERFACES

A slip ring assembly is used with a surgical shaft assembly. The slip ring assembly includes a slip ring, a first conductor mounted on the slip ring, a commutator rotatable relative to the slip ring, and a second conductor mounted on the commutator. The slip ring assembly further includes a flexible member disposed between the slip ring and the commutator. The flexible member comprises a body and flexible protrusions extending from the body, wherein the flexible protrusions are elastically deformed against the first slip ring.

SURGICAL SHAFT ASSEMBLIES WITH WATERTIGHT HOUSINGS

A slip ring assembly is used with a surgical shaft assembly. The slip ring assembly includes a first housing portion, a first connector supported in the first housing portion, and a first conductor mounted on the first connector. The slip ring assembly also includes a second housing portion, wherein one of the first housing portion and the second housing portion is rotatable relative to the other, a second connector supported in the second housing portion, and a second conductor mounted on the second connector, wherein the second conductor is in contact with the first conductor. An interface between the first housing portion and the second housing portion, wherein the interface is configured to effect a seal between the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

GROUNDING BRUSH ASSEMBLY

A grounding brush assembly includes a brush and a brush mounting plate, the brush being provided with a plurality of conductive fibers and a support inside which the conductive fibers are housed, the mounting plate being secured to the support and provided with at least one radial portion extending radially outwardly with respect to the support. At least one centering portion extends at least axially from the radial portion and is spaced radially apart from and partially surrounding the support. Further, at least one orifice is formed in the centering portion, the orifice being spaced a distance apart from the proximal end of the centering portion and a distance apart from the distal end of the centering portion.
