CRIMP TOOL HAVING NON-LINEAR CRIMPING FORCE AND RELATED METHODS
A crimp tool for crimping a prepared wire into a corresponding contact wire barrel includes a circular cam having an aperture therein, where the aperture forms an inner camming surface. The crimp tool also includes a cam handle extending from the circular cam, a lower handle pivotably connected to the cam handle at the circular cam, and an indentor holder mounted within the aperture of the circular cam, where the indentor holder has a plurality of radially extending channels or holes. In addition, the crimp tool includes a plurality of indentor elements slidingly engaged with the plurality of radially extending channels, where the inner camming surface has a plurality of curvilinear ramps for the plurality of indenter elements to slide along as the circular cam rotates from an open position to a closed position. The plurality of curvilinear ramps have at least one change in ramp geometry.
Programmable memory positioner and calibration system for a crimp tool and related methods
A crimp tool calibration system for crimping a prepared wire into a corresponding contact wire barrel includes a computer, a positioner having a memory chip storing positioner data, and a tool frame. The tool frame includes a head having a receiving port therethrough, and configured for the positioner to be removably engaged with the receiving port during a crimping operation. The tool frame also includes a plurality of crimping dies positioned around a periphery of the receiving port, an adjustment device to adjust a crimp depth, and a positioner interface coupled to the tool frame. The positioner interface includes a tool memory for storing tool data, a reader, and a transmitter, where the reader is configured to read the positioner data stored on the memory chip or the positioner, and the transmitter is configured to transmit the positioner data and the tool data to the computer.
Crimping pliers
The inventions relates to crimping pliers with two hand levers (3, 5) and two actuation elements (9, 10) located in the region of a pliers head (4). The actuation elements (9, 10) actuates dies (12) between which a workpiece can be crimped. A toggle lever drive (33) with two toggle levers (34, 35) which build a toggle lever angle (36) acts between the hand levers (3, 5) and the actuation elements (9, 10). One toggle lever (34) is built by a roller (23) which is pivotably mounted to the hand lever (5). The roller (23) rolls along a curved track (24) fixed at the other hand lever (3). A forced locking unit (48) is built with a toothed latching lever (28) which is supported for being rotated relatively to the roller (23). A lever part (30) of the toothed latching lever (28) is coupled by a sliding guide to the hand lever (3), whereas the other lever part (29) of the toothed latching lever (28) forms a toothing (31) for latching of the forced locking unit (48).
Crimping apparatus for turned contacts
A crimping tool is provided for crimping the tubular portion of a turned electrical contact concentrically about the bare end of an electrical conductor, including a tool body having a main first portion, and an integral coplanar second portion extending from the main body portion to define a first lever. A crimping die arrangement includes an annular stamp holder mounted opposite an opening contained in the tool body main first portion, and an annular thrust collar is mounted concentrically about the stamp holder for angular displacement between released and crimping positions, thereby to displace a plurality of stamp members radially of the stamp holder between released an crimping positions The thrust collar is angularly displaced between the released and crimping positions by a toggle link arrangement that connects a second lever both with the tool body main portion and with the thrust collar.
