An article that may be a wearable article includes a body having a first secured member and a second secured member, one securing member and a power modulator. The securing member is formed of a shape-memory material that is reactive to an energy source. A first end of the securing member engages the first secured member and a second end of the securing member engages the second secured member. The securing member is operable between a starting configuration and a deformed configuration to change relative positions of the first secured member and the second secured member. A power modulator is operable for imparting the securing member with the energy source in order to operate the securing member from the deformed configuration to the starting configuration. A method for using the article is also provided.

LACING SYSTEM WITH LOOPS FOR TIGHTENING AND LOOSENING

An article of footwear includes an upper and a tensioning mechanism operable to move the upper between a tightened state and a loosened state and including a tensioning cable having a first end disposed on one of a lateral side and a medial side of the upper. The tensioning cable is movable in a tightening direction to move the tightening mechanism into a tightened state and movable in a loosening direction to move the tightening mechanism into a loosened state. The article of footwear also includes a locking device disposed on the one of the lateral side and the medial side of the upper. The locking device is operable between a locked state restricting movement of the tensioning cable in the loosening direction and an unlocked state permitting movement of the tensioning cable in both the loosening direction and the tightening direction.

Guides for lacing systems

Lacing systems are disclosed for use with footwear or other articles. The lacing system can include flexible webbing lace guides. A lace guide can include a first lace guide element and a second lace guide element. The lace can pass through the first and second lace guides consecutively on the first side of the article before crossing to the opposing side of the article. The first and second lace guide elements can be angled towards each other to reduce the occurrence of sharp turns in the lace path through the lace guide elements. The lace guide can have a central portion that is less flexible than the end portions so as to reduce the occurrence of sharp turns in the lace path through the lace guide when tension is applied to the lace.
