Intelligent switchable device

Disclosed herein is an intelligent switchable device for selectively conducting electricity based on the condition of a branch circuit. The device contains at least one sensor for producing a signal indicative of a condition. The device is capable of transmitting data and communications as well as receiving data, including remote instructions and rules. The device is capable of storing rules for determining whether to render the switch conductive or non-conductive. An optical prong detector is provided to determine whether both the hot and neutral prongs of a plug have been inserted into the receptacle. The receptacle provides conductance upon determination of insertion of a plug into the receptacle. Additional features include GFI detection, current detection, heat detection, warning lights and an audible alarm. The receptacle includes communication abilities with remote devices to transmit data indicative of the state of the device.

Power system for a medical cart with a direct current power bus

A power system for a medical cart includes a power supply, a direct current power bus electrically coupled to the power supply, and an electrical output power module electrically coupled to the direct current power bus. The power supply is positioned within the base of the medical cart and outputs direct current electrical power. The direct current power bus is the support of the medical cart, with the base being at one end of the support. The electrical output power module is within the work platform of the medical cart at the other end of the support. The electrical output power module inputs the direct current electrical power from the direct current power bus, and converts the input direct current electrical power to an electrical power output having a different state.

Power cord having thermal sensor

A power cord includes a plug having blades and a thermal sensor configured to detect a temperature, and a cut-off means configured to stop electric power from being supplied to the load connection portion from the blades when a temperature detected with the thermal sensor is higher than a prescribed temperature. The plug includes a core which retains the blades and the thermal sensor, and an enclosure which is formed by molding synthetic resin to cover an outside of the core. A part of the thermal sensor protrudes from the core to be buried in the enclosure.
