Electric vehicle charger with load shedding
11376984 · 2022-07-05 · ·

Methods and apparatus for electric vehicle charger with load shedding. One embodiment provides a method of load shedding including receiving, at an electronic processor of an EV charger, an indication of an amount of current flowing through a main switchboard connected to the EV charger and determining, with the electronic processor, whether the amount of current exceeds a predetermined threshold. The method also includes reducing, using the electronic processor, a charge rating of the EV charger when the amount of current exceeds the predetermined threshold.

Wireless transmission in shared wireless medium environments

Methods, apparatus and systems supporting coexistence of wireless transmission equipment in shared wireless medium environments. The techniques provided herein may be applied to various types of wireless transmission equipment. Under one example, a wireless power transmission system (WPTS) delivers power to wireless power receiver clients via transmission of wireless power signals using one or more frequencies and/or channels within shared wireless medium environments in which other wireless equipment is operating, such as access points and stations in wireless local area networks (WLANs). The WPTS is configured to co-exist with the operations of the other wireless equipment within the shared wireless medium environment by adapting its transmission operations to utilize frequencies or channels that do not interfere with other equipment and/or implementing co-channel and shared channels operations under which access to channels is implemented using standardized WLAN protocols such as PHY and MAC protocols used for 802.11 (Wi-Fi™) networks.

BATTERY PACK POWER CUTTING OFF APPARATUS

A battery pack power cutting off apparatus is discussed, and includes a power cutoff configured to block a line through which a charge/discharge current of a battery module flows, a communicator configured to receive an operation signal of the power cutoff from an external device, and a switching configured to control to apply power to a heater resistor included in the power cutoff based on an operation signal of the power cutoff, wherein when power is applied to the heater resistor and generates heat, the power cutoff operates to block the current flowing through the line.

Smart electricity monitor and energy management system including same

Smart electricity monitors with unique identities placed at individual power outlets within a building communicate frequent power measurements to a service which determines, from this power usage data, which outlets are associated with occupied seats within the building. This occupancy information can be used to update an occupancy model for the building that is used to forecast the building's occupancy. Based on present occupancy, projected occupancy, and other data, in some instances, the building's thermostats can be controlled and unoccupied seats can be assigned dynamically.

Gateway apparatus for controlling power of photovoltaic power generation facilities
11381088 · 2022-07-05 · ·

Disclosed is a gateway apparatus for photovoltaic power generation facilities. The gateway apparatus includes a first communication portion which performs short-range wireless communication with at least one of a photovoltaic module connection board, a photovoltaic inverter, a peripheral environment sensing apparatus, a power measuring apparatus, and an energy storage system (ESS), a second communication portion which performs wired communication or wireless communication with a remote server, and a control portion which controls operations of the first communication portion and the second communication portion. Here, the control portion controls information provided from one or more of the photovoltaic module connection board, the photovoltaic inverter, the peripheral environment sensing apparatus, and the power measuring apparatus to be transmitted to the ESS.

Optimum Utilization of Electric Circuit Capacity by Adding Electric Vehicle Charging
20220247209 · 2022-08-04 ·

This invention enables Electric Vehicle (EV) charging requirements to be supplied by electric power available off-peak without increasing demand charges. It does this by continually measuring primary loads and enabling EV charging to utilize only that power that will not increase total demand. Grouping software available from Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE) suppliers allows the available power to be shared among multiple vehicles.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING MANAGEMENT METHODS AND SYSTEMS
20220274500 · 2022-09-01 ·

Electric vehicle charging management methods and systems are provided. First, a server receives a candidate charging request respectively from each of candidate charging stations or candidate mobile devices via a network. According to the candidate charging requests, at least one first charging station is selected from the candidate charging stations, and the first charging station is instructed to perform a first charging operation with an upper power limit value. The server sets the candidate charging requests of the candidate charging stations other than that of the first charging station to a pending state. When the first charging status information corresponding to the first charging operation meets an energy management condition, the server selects at least one second charging station from the candidate charging stations according to the candidate charging requests, and instructs the second charging station to perform a second charging operation with the upper power limit value.

Intelligent electrical switch

An intelligent electrical switch comprising a conventional mechanical switch connected to a computer system in communication with an external device and receiving instructions therefrom. The switch may be installed in an existing circuit to replace one switch in a multi-way wiring geometry, and includes a sensor detecting current on the neutral line. By determining the circuit state, the switch can determine whether, when instructions are received wirelessly to power the circuit on or off, the mechanical switch element should be toggled.

EFFICIENT WIRELESS POWER DESIGN

A power receiver is provided. The power receiver includes a driver, a resonance circuit, and a controller. The resonance circuit includes a coil that receives power transmitted from a power transmitter and a rectifier that implements in-band communication. The controller monitors a condition of the power receiver, adopts a phase shift according to the condition of the power receiver, modulates the in-band communications to the power transmitter based on the phase shift to provide modulated communications, and sends the modulated communications through the coil to the power transmitter.

Reconfigurable power control system

Systems and methods for the creation of a centrally controlled DC and AC power rail system within a structure. The rails utilize a centralized controller along with a plurality of distributed controllers to allow for power in the rails to be selectively distributed or not distributed to outlets attached to the rails. This allows for power to be distributed without the need for users to utilize hardwired switches, but to instead utilize generally wireless switch modules, which may be implemented in hardware and/or software to control the outlets. It also allows for devices designed to utilize DC power to be directly supplied with such power from the DC power rail without the need to include onboard AC-DC converters with each device.
