An energy storage system according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is connected to a grid power source and a photovoltaic panel, and includes: a battery configured to store electric energy received from the grid power source or the photovoltaic panel in a direct current form, or to output the stored electric energy to one or more loads; a grid relay configured to connect or block a power path connected to the grid power source; and a load relay configured to connect or block a power path connected to the load, wherein the grid relay is turned off when an error occurs in the grid power source, and the load relay is turned off when a state of charge of the battery is lower than an off-reference value.
Appliance load manager that cycles an air conditioner to reduce peak demand
A home appliance can operate in a future time frame. Information is obtained from a power distributor in order to determine a time when to operate the home appliance in this future time frame. The home appliance then operates at the time determined with information from the power distributor.
Site management in an on-demand system
Methods and systems are provided for managing environmental conditions and energy usage associated with a site. One exemplary method of regulating an environment condition at a site involves a server receiving environmental measurement data from a monitoring system at the site via a network, determining an action for an electrical appliance at the site based at least in part on the environmental measurement data and one or more monitoring rules associated with the site, and providing an indication of the action to an actuator for the electrical appliance.
Method and apparatus for actively managing electric power supply for an electric power grid
Systems and methods for managing power supplied over an electric power grid by an electric utility and/or other market participants to a multiplicity of grid elements and devices for supply and/or load curtailment as supply, each of which having a supply equivalence value associated with its energy consumption and/or reduction in consumption and/or supply, and wherein messaging is managed through a network by a coordinator using IP messaging for communication with the grid elements and devices, with the energy management system (EMS), and with the utilities, market participants, and/or grid operators.
Method and system for determining and controlling an electricity feed to an electricity grid from a load side of an electric circuit
The invention relates to a method for controlling an electricity feed to an electricity grid (12) from a load side of an electric circuit (5), comprising the steps of: a) Providing a electricity feed with an associated feed duration to a controller (13) of an electric power converter (7); b) The controller (13) commissioning the electric power converter (7) to provide the electricity feed, until the electricity feed and feed duration is provided anew or until the feed duration expires. The invention further relates to a system for controlling an electricity feed of an electric source.
Energy management system
The present disclosure is directed to an energy management system that allows leveraging DC energy at user premises. The system allows for use of local or remote DC energy generated by photovoltaic modules or a battery pack. The system comprises a premises electricity network interface arranged to deliver and draw energy to and from a premises electricity network; a premises energy measurement module arranged to measure the amount of energy required by the premises electricity network; a DC energy input arranged to receive energy from one or more DC energy sources; and an energy analytics module arranged to receive data from the energy measurement module and, based on the received data, calculate an amount of energy to be delivered to the premises electricity network via the premises electricity network interface.
Dynamic battery back-up for set-top-boxes
Disclosed herein is a dynamic backup battery for updating the firmware of a media device. The media device includes a memory device that is electrically coupled to a port. The port of the media device is configured to receive a first power. The media device also includes a battery that is electrically coupled to the port and is configured to supply a second power to the port. The media device includes a processor electrically coupled to the battery and is configured to monitor the power level of the first power received and based on the power level of the first power received falling below a threshold value, the battery supplies a second power to the port of the media device. The processor is further configured to activate a low power mode, detect an event while in low power mode, deactivate low power mode, perform a task, and reactivate low power mode.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR POWER CONSUMPTION AND/OR POWER INPUT CONTROL IN AN ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY NETWORK
The invention relates to a method for power consumption and power input control in an electrical power supply network, wherein a control signal with an item of tariff information is generated by a signal station at a power supply and unidirectionally output via the power supply network, wherein the control signal is received by at least one receiving unit arranged in the power consumption network and the control signal received by the receiving unit is used for operation control of a power output unit/power input unit for a downstream power consumer/power generator. A device for power consumption/power generation control comprises a receiving unit for a control signal transmitted via a power supply network with means for converting the control signal and for generating switching processes for a power output/power input unit controlled by the receiving unit for connecting a downstream consumer/generator.
Power control system (PCS) commissioning agent
Systems and methods for verifying correct completion of a power control sequence in a switchgear provide a commissioning agent that can automatically verify correct completion of the power control sequence. The commissioning agent includes a sequence verification tool that can initiate performance of a power control sequence in the switchgear and immediately compare the sequence actually performed to the sequence intended to be performed. If the two sequences do not match in order and timing, the verification tool reports the mismatch and identifies the error. In some embodiments, the commissioning agent further includes a log viewer that captures the sequence actually performed in the switchgear and displays the result for viewing. Such an arrangement provides a faster and more reliable way to double-check the system integrity of the switchgear during initial engineering and after factory and/or field modifications.
