Multifuel Automotive Engine-Derived Systems for Clean Grid Load Balancing and Non-Grid Electricity Applications
Modestly modified automotive engine powered generator systems to substantially improve capability for providing renewable electricity powered grid reliability and energy storage are disclosed. The use of these engines to improve capability for non-grid electricity generation, including affordable and clean fast charging of electric vehicles, is also disclosed. In one embodiment, these automotive engines use high RPM and stoichiometric air fuel ratio operation so as to provide the advantages of substantially reduced cost and NOx emissions. These engines also have multifuel capability that provides highly flexible use of low carbon fuels (such as hydrogen, methanol and ammonia) as well as the use of present fuels that are widely available. When these low-carbon fuels are produced with excess electricity from the grid and supplied to the grid when there is an electricity-supply shortfalls, they can serve as a means of energy storage.
Arrangement for reducing eddy current losses of an outer rotor electric machine
The present invention relates to an arrangement (O1, S1) of an outer rotor electric machine for reducing eddy current losses of the outer rotor electric machine (I). The outer rotor electric machine comprises a rotatably arranged rotor (10) and a stator (20). Said rotor comprises an outer rotor portion (12) surrounding said stator (20) or part of said stator and a wheel like end wall portion (14). One end (22a) of said stator (20) is arranged to face said end wall portion (14). The arrangement comprises a plurality of openings (O1) distributed on said end wall portion (14) so as to reduce appearance of eddy currents associated with said end wall portion (14) during operation of said electric machine (I). The present invention also relates to an outer rotor electric machine. The present invention also pertains to a platform.
Generator
A generator includes a housing; a rotational shaft at least partially inserted into the housing; a rotor coupled to the rotational shaft and rotated together when the rotational shaft is rotated; a stator positioned between an inner surface of the housing and an outer surface of the rotor; a cooling module including a fan cover coupled to the housing, and a fan installed inside of the fan cover to generate a flow of an air passing through an inside of the housing; and a rotation support part including a cylindrical bearing holder positioned inside of the housing, and a bearing which is coupled to an inner circumferential surface of the bearing holder and rotatably supports the rotational shaft, the bearing holder forming a flow path of the air blown by the fan in at least one of an inner side or an outer side.
GENERATOR
In a generator including an engine, a rotating electric machine, and a cooling fan that rotates integrally with a rotor of the rotating electric machine, the cooling fan includes a plurality of fans disposed at an interval in an axial direction of the fan, and a cylindrical body that extends in the axial direction of the cooling fan with a cylindrical cross section in an inner peripheral space of an upstream fan and is disposed more on the upstream side than a downstream fan.
TECHNOLOGIES FOR REDUNDANT SHAFT INFORMATION FEEDBACK IN ELECTRIC MACHINE SYSTEMS HAVING MULTIPLE RESOLVERS
Electric machine drive systems, and related electric machine embodiments, include technologies for providing redundancy of shaft information of one or more electric machines between converter controllers of the corresponding system. The converter controllers are configured to control operation of power converters, which control one or more electric machines. The disclosed technologies include establishing one or more communication buses between the converter controllers to share the shaft information, which may be based on analog signals from a single, common resolver and/or from different, redundant resolvers depending on the embodiment. For example, in some embodiments, converter controllers communicatively connected to the same resolver may include separate resolver-to-digital converters (RDCs) to provide redundancy of the RDCs.
GENERATOR
A shroud includes a first shroud that covers a first side face to which a muffler is adjacent among four side faces that an engine has, a second shroud that covers a second side face adjacent to the first side face and a third side face, and a third shroud that sections a muffler space for housing the muffler with the first shroud, the first shroud and the second shroud form an upstream side air guide path that makes cooling air flow around the engine, and the muffler space is connected to a downstream side of the upstream side air guide path.
RUGGEDIZED & INTEGRATED HYBRID GENERATORS AND RELATED METHODS
Ruggedized generators can operate using both medium and heavy fuels and output at least 5 kWe of power, yet are quiet, compact in size, and reliable.
Free piston generator based on split thermodynamic cycle
Provided is a free piston generator based on a split thermodynamic cycle, which belongs to the technical field of power energy. The present disclosure solves the problem of low power generation efficiency of an existing free piston generator. The free piston generator includes a linear generator set and two internal combustion engine sets arranged at two ends of the linear generator set. Air is first subjected to first-stage compression by the low-pressure cylinder set in the internal combustion engine sets and is then subjected to second-stage compression in the high-pressure cylinders, so that the intake pressure of an internal combustion engine is effectively increased, which is favorable for increasing the average effective pressure in a work process, thereby improving the thermal efficiency and the power generation efficiency of the free piston generator. A combusted working medium is first subjected to first-stage expansion in the high-pressure cylinders and is then subjected to second-stage expansion in the low-pressure cylinders, which effectively increases the utilization rate of energy in exhaust gas, increases the expansion work, and further improves the thermal efficiency and the power generation efficiency of the free piston generator.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR POWERING A GARMENT
A lawn mower or stand-on powered drivable machine has an electrical port that receives current from an alternator powered by the engine or motor. The port receives a plug from a garment worn by the lawn mower operator. The garment includes one or more thermo-electric elements that are powered from current extending through the port. The thermo-electric (TEC) elements may be resistive heaters to warm the operator or TEC coolers to cool the operator. Furthermore, the garment may include a rechargeable battery that powers the thermo-electric elements when the plug is disconnected from the port.
