Electromagnetic generator transformer
An electromagnetic generating transformer comprises one or more flux assembly having one or more magnetic field source having a positive pole and a negative pole and a magnetic field passing in a path between the positive pole and the negative pole and a conductor magnetically coupled with the one or more magnetic field source, the magnetic field source and the conductor being fixed relative to one another; a shunt is coupled with a motive source and configured to move the shunt into a primary position and a secondary position, wherein the magnitude of the magnetic field passing between the positive pole and the negative pole varies when the shunt is moved between the primary position and the secondary position.
Energy Recovery System and Methods of Use
A system and method are provided for storing and recovering electricity generated from conventional/renewable energy sources. A thermal energy storage vessel contains thermal storage fluid (“TSF”) comprising a eutectic ternary nitrate molten salt, induction heating elements, turbine pumps, a heat exchanger, and various data acquisition sensors like thermocouples and thermistors. The immersion heating elements receive the electricity generated from conventional and/or renewable energy source to heat the eutectic ternary nitrate molten salt to the desired temperature. Coiled tubing is deployed within the thermal containment vessel to be distribution systems for the power cycle working gas and heat exchange for the power cycle working gas. The power cycle working gas is delivered under pressure to a steam turbine. The turbine converts the energy into mechanical shaft work to drive an electricity generator to produce electricity. The steam exhaust is gathered by a compressor and returned to the thermal energy storage vessel.
Floating drum turbine for electricity generation
A floating drum turbine is used for generating the electrical energy from the kinetic energy of a water stream (sea wave or river flow) that provides the mechanical energy needed to rotate an electrical generator for generating the electricity. The drum turbine is installed on a buoyant skid anchored to the seabed by some chains/ropes to keep it in a fixed position and direction along the water stream. The turbine is coupled to an electrical generator with a power transmission system, and generates the electricity that is transferred to the coast using a cable system floated on the water surface.
Conformal cooling devices for rotating generator elements and additive manufacturing processes for fabricating the same
Electrical generators having one or more conformal support and cooling devices for use in supporting and cooling rotating elements of the generator are disclosed herein. An electrical generator includes a housing, a shaft disposed axially through the housing, a rotor assembly including a plurality of poles that are disposed within the housing and mounted on the shaft, a support wedge disposed between two of the plurality of poles. The conformal support and cooling device includes an internal cooling channel in a helical configuration or a V-shape configuration that extends from a first length-wise end of the support and cooling device to a second length-wise end of the support and cooling device. Additive manufacturing processes are employed to fabricate the conformal support and cooling device.
Aircraft turbine engine equipped with an electrical machine
An aircraft turbine engine includes a gas generator and a fan arranged upstream from the gas generator and configured to generate a main gas flow, one portion of which flows in a flow path of the gas generator to form a primary flow, and another portion of which flows in a flow path around the gas generator to form a secondary flow. The gas generator includes a low-pressure compressor that includes a rotor driving the fan. The turbine engine further includes an electric machine. The electric machine includes a rotor rotated by the rotor of the low-pressure compressor, and a stator extending around the rotor of the electric machine and configured to be cooled by the primary flow.
Machine having a liquid lubrication system and a shaft
A machine includes a liquid lubrication system and a shaft, the shaft being rotatable about a rotation axis, the shaft including a first part, a second part engaged coaxially with the first part, and a journal bearing between the first part and the second part, the first part being rotatable relative to the second part about the rotation axis, a helical feature disposed between the first part and the second part and configured to define a helical pump between the first part and the second part, the pump being hydraulically connected to the liquid lubrication system, the journal bearing being disposed adjacent to the helical feature.
Automatic control valve with micro-hydro generator
An automatic control valve is provided for generating power based on fluid flow. In one example, the automatic control valve includes a primary passage including a valve seat disposed between an inlet and an outlet and a valve seat. A valve member is moveable between an open position and a closed position depending on the fluid flow. The automatic control valve includes a rotatable valve stem that is affixed at one end to an impeller and operably affixed to a drive shaft of a generator at the other end. As fluid flows to move the valve member to an open position, the impeller with the rotatable shaft and the drive shaft of the generator rotate to produce electric power.
