An energy storage system (100) comprises a switched reluctance motor having a rotor (101) and a stator (102). The rotor is arranged to be capable of acting as a flywheel for storing energy. A casing (106) encloses the rotor and stator, and the rotor is supported for rotation on the casing. The energy storage system further includes a base (109) arranged to support the casing. The energy storage system is arranged such that, in use, the axis of the rotor is generally horizontal. An energy storage installation comprising a plurality of energy storage systems is also provided.

EXTERNAL WINDING CONTROLLED, TWO-DEGREE-OF-FREEDOM, BEARINGLESS, SWITCHED RELUCTANCE MOTOR

An external winding controlled two-degree-of-freedom bearing-free switched reluctance motor includes a stator and a rotor. An edge portion of the rotor includes rotor teeth. The stator includes an external winding and a stator core. The stator core includes four suspension teeth distributed in x and y directions on the same circumference of the radial outer side of the rotor and magnetism isolating bodies connected to two adjacent suspension teeth, each suspension tooth includes, along the axial direction of the rotor, a permanent magnet sheet and magnetically conductive sheets symmetrically connected to two sides of the permanent magnet sheet, torque teeth are connected to the inner walls of the magnetism isolating bodies, and torque windings are wound around the torque teeth. The external winding includes x-direction control cores connecting two suspension teeth in the x direction to form two x-direction symmetrical closed paths.

A switched reluctance motor is provided that prevents deformation or damage of a bridge member assembled on a rotor at high speed rotation of the rotor. The motor includes a stator having a plurality of magnetic pole protrusions with a coil wound thereon and a rotor having a plurality of magnetic pole protrusions. A bridge member is formed in a T-shaped sectional shape consisting of a roof portion, a leg portion, and a foot portion and buries a gap between the magnetic pole protrusions of the rotor in a state of being supported to the rotor at three places including the foot portion (4c) and opposite end portions of the roof portion. Additionally, end plates are configured to close opposite end portions of the rotor.

SYNCHRONOUS RELUCTANCE MOTOR AND ELECTRICAL PRODUCT

A synchronous reluctance motor includes a rotor and a stator surrounding the rotor. The rotator includes a rotatable shaft and magnetic flux barrier layers arranged radially. One of the magnetic flux barrier layers closest to the stator is filled with a conductor, and one of the magnetic flux barrier layers closest to the rotating shaft is a void.

Hybrid rotor for an axial flux electrical machine

The present invention provides a rotor, an axial flux electrical machine and a hybrid-electrical or electrical air craft. The rotor for the axial flux electrical machine comprises first sections of a first material and second sections of a second material. The first sections and second sections are arranged in alternating order and ring-shape. The arrangement is characterized by third sections which form interface areas between the first sections and second sections, whereas the third sections are comprising the first material and the second material in such a manner that the first section and the second section are connected force-fitted.

A synchronous reluctance motor, in particular a four-pole synchronous reluctance motor includes a stator with 48 stator grooves for receiving a winding system; a reluctance rotor, which is spaced apart from the stator by an air gap. The reluctance rotor has axes with a high magnetic conductivity (d-axis) and axes with low magnetic conductivity (q-axis). Provision is made for an arrangement of magnetically conductive flux-conducting portions and magnetic flux barriers, which are arranged such as to form the d-axis and the q-axis of the reluctance rotor. The reluctance rotor has a geometric groove separation angle of αr 6° or 10°, which angle is between two adjacent magnetic flux barriers at the air gap.

The synchronous reluctance motor includes: a stator core and a rotor core, where the stator core includes stator teeth, the rotor core includes a plurality of magnetic barrier groups arranged in a circumferential direction, each of the magnetic barrier groups includes a plurality of magnetic flux barriers arranged at intervals in a radial direction, a magnetic conduction channel is defined by every two adjacent magnetic flux barriers on a same pole, and a relationship between a quantity of the stator teeth N.sub.s, a quantity of layers B.sub.s of the magnetic flux barriers on each pole, and a quantity of rotor poles 2p is as follows: N.sub.s/2p =B.sub.s+1.

AN ELECTRICAL MACHINE WITH AN ISOLATED ROTOR

An electrical machine (1) being a modulated pole machine operating by switching of magnetic flux comprises a rotor (10), a stator (20) and a winding (30). The rotor and stator have respective sections (12,22) interleaved with each other via more than 4 air gaps. At least two different sections each comprise a winding loop from the same phase winding. At least one of the sections that is part of the rotor is an isolated rotor section which comprises electrically non-conducting structure material.
