Phased array amplifier linearization
Apparatus and methods provide predistortion for a phased array. Radio frequency (RF) sample signals from phased array elements are provided along return paths and are combined by a hardware RF combiner. Phase shifters are adjusted such that the RF sample signals are phase-aligned when combined. Adaptive adjustment of predistortion for the amplifiers of the phased array can be based on a signal derived from the combined RF sample signals.

Digital predistortion for advanced antenna system
Systems and methods are disclosed herein that provide low-complexity Digital Predistortion (DPD) for a transceiver system that uses an Advanced Antenna System (AAS) to provide analog or hybrid beamforming.
PEAK CURRENT LIMITER
A peak current limiter for an audio system comprising at least two audio amplifiers is described. The peak current limiter comprises at least two audio inputs; at least two audio outputs, each audio output being coupled to a respective one of the at least two audio inputs and configured to be coupled to a respective one of the at least two audio amplifiers. The peak current limiter is configured to receive an audio signal on each of the respective audio inputs. The peak current limiter determines a current value required by each of at least two audio amplifiers. An audio characteristic of at least one of the received audio signals is modified to limit the total current supplied to the at least two amplifiers below a predefined maximum current value.
Method and system for linearizing an amplifier using transistor-level dynamic feedback
The present disclosure describes a method and system for linearizing an amplifier using transistor-level dynamic feedback. The method and system enables nonlinear amplifiers to exhibit linear performance using one or more of gain control elements and phase shifters in the feedback path. The disclosed method and system may also allow an amplifier to act as a pre-distorter or a frequency/gain programmable amplifier.
POLAR PHASE OR FREQUENCY MODULATION CIRCUIT AND METHOD
The present disclosure relates to a polar phase or frequency modulator comprising: a normalized delay circuit (602) configured to delay edges of an input carrier signal (CLK_IN) based on normalized delay control values (i) to generate a modulated output signal (RF_OUT); and a normalized delay calculator (604) configured to receive the modulated output signal (RF_OUT) and to generate the normalized delay control values (i).
ANALOG PREDISTORTION (APD) FOR POWER AMPLIFIER
Systems and methods for analog predistortion (APD) in power amplifiers are disclosed. In one aspect, APD may be provided in a front-end module (FEM) of a transmitter. More specifically, the APD may include different predistortions based on where within a frequency band the signal to be distorted is operating (i.e., sub-band APD). The APD in the FEM may further be based on operating conditions such as temperature within the FEM. Still further, the FEM may be configured to apply different APD based on whether or not a baseband processor (BBP) applies digital predistortion (DPD). At a minimum, the provision of the APD may make the operation of a power amplifier in FEM more linear. Further, where DPD is present, the use of the APD may simplify the requirements for the DPD provided in the BBP.
Phase shifter

The phase shifter includes a hybrid coupler circuit including inductors with mutual inductances, an amplifying circuit, an impedance matching circuit provided between the hybrid coupler circuit and the amplifying circuit. The impedance matching circuit includes a first resistance element connected to an output node of the hybrid coupler circuit, a capacitance element connected between the first resistance element and the ground line in series, another inductor connected in parallel with the first resistance element, and a second resistance element provided between the inductor and the ground line in series.
Wideband vector modulator and phase shifter
An apparatus includes a first circuit and a plurality of second circuits. The first circuit may be configured to generate a pair of quadrature signals from a radio-frequency signal. The second circuits may each comprise a plurality of cascode amplifiers. The cascode amplifiers may be connected in parallel. The cascode amplifiers may be configured to generate a plurality of intermediate signals by modulating the quadrature signals in response to a first control signal and a second control signal. The first control signal generally switches a contribution of the cascode amplifiers in the generation of the intermediate signal. The second control signal may adjusts a total current passing through all of the cascode amplifiers.
