20220311394 · 2022-09-29 ·

A power amplifier circuit includes an amplifier transistor that amplifies a radio-frequency signal and outputs the radio-frequency signal, and a bias circuit that supplies a bias current to a base of the amplifier transistor. The bias circuit includes a bias current supply transistor, and an electrostatic capacity circuit whose electrostatic capacity varies in accordance with a temperature of the amplifier transistor and that is charged in a non-supply period during which the bias current is not supplied and discharges to a supply path for the bias current in a supply period during which the bias current is supplied. The supply period during which the bias current is supplied includes an amplification period during which the radio-frequency signal is amplified by the amplifier transistor. The bias current starts to be supplied before the amplifier transistor starts amplification.

DIFFERENTIAL CASCODE AMPLIFIER ARRANGEMENT WITH REDUCED COMMON MODE GATE RF VOLTAGE
20220311390 · 2022-09-29 ·

Methods and devices for reducing gate node instability of a differential cascode amplifier are presented. Ground return loops, and therefore corresponding parasitic inductances, are eliminated by using voltage symmetry at nodes of two cascode amplification legs of the differential cascode amplifier. Series connected capacitors are coupled between gate nodes of pairs of cascode amplifiers of the two cascode amplification legs so to create a common node connecting the two capacitors. In order to reduce peak to peak voltage variation at the common node under large signal conditions, a shunting capacitor is connected to the common node.

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to a closed loop control of user equipment (UE) or base station (BS) power amplifier nonlinearity. One aspect provides a method of reporting an out-of-band power measurement by a UE in a wireless communication network. A UE may receive a downlink data traffic signal on a physical downlink channel from a base station. The UE may then measure an out of band (OOB) power of the received downlink data traffic signal, the receive OOB power comprising an average power of the downlink data traffic signal in one or more (OOB) locations of the wireless communication network offset from the physical downlink channel. The UE may then generate an OOB power measurement information element (IE) indicating the measured OOB power and send the OOB power measurement IE to the base station in an uplink control channel.
