In certain aspects, a power amplification device, a power amplification system, and an operation method thereof are disclosed. The power amplification system includes a power amplification device and a control unit. The power amplification device includes a plurality of power amplification circuits, a power supply network configured to supply a power source from a plurality of power sources to the plurality of power amplification circuits, and a transformer network configured to provide an output power that matches a transmit power level. The control unit includes a memory storing code and a processor coupled to the memory. When the code is executed, the processor is configured to determine a plurality of circuit configurations for the plurality of power amplification circuits based on the transmit power level, and configure the plurality of power amplification circuits using the plurality of circuit configurations, respectively, so that the output power matches the transmit power level.

Methods and apparatus for a signal isolator that mitigates the effects of CMTI strikes. In embodiments, a first die comprises a transmit module and the first die has a first voltage domain; and a second die comprises a receive module including a receive amplifier configured to receive from the transmit module a transmit signal that includes a differential signal and a common mode current. The second die may have a second voltage domain with the first and second die being separated by an isolation barrier. In embodiment, the receive amplifier includes a differential amplifier to receive the differential input signal from the transmit module; and a common mode module configured to sense the common mode current and sink or source the common mode current and minimize changes to an input impedance of the receive amplifier.

A power amplifier including: a main power amplification device having an output; an auxiliary power amplification device having an output; a load modulation circuit operably connected to the output of the main power amplification device and the output of the auxiliary power amplification device; and a post-matching circuit operably connected to load modulation circuit. The load modulation circuit is arranged to enable fundamental frequency load modulation and to enable modulated harmonic terminations of at least the second and third harmonic frequencies. The modulated harmonic terminations may include drain terminations.

Amplification circuitry is disclosed that couples neutralization transistors to amplification transistors to neutralize parasitic capacitance of the amplification transistors. Gates of a first amplification transistor and a first neutralization transistor are coupled together, and gates of a second amplification transistor and a second neutralization transistor are also coupled together. Drains of the first amplification transistor and the second neutralization transistor are coupled together, and drains of the second amplification transistor and the first neutralization transistor are also coupled together. Sources of neutralization transistors are coupled together at a node, such that a voltage swing of a first signal in the first neutralization transistor may be canceled by a voltage swing of a second signal in the second neutralization transistor. The node also couples to a resistor that prevents charge building in the neutralization transistors.

Techniques for generating a power tracking supply voltage for a circuit (e.g., a power amplifier) are disclosed. The circuit may process multiple transmit signals being sent simultaneously on multiple carriers at different frequencies. In one exemplary design, an apparatus includes a power tracker and a power supply generator. The power tracker determines a power tracking signal based on inphase (I) and quadrature (Q) components of a plurality of transmit signals being sent simultaneously. The power supply generator generates a power supply voltage based on the power tracking signal. The apparatus may further include a power amplifier (PA) that amplifies a modulated radio frequency (RF) signal based on the power supply voltage and provides an output RF signal.

DIRECT SUBSTRATE TO SOLDER BUMP CONNECTION FOR THERMAL MANAGEMENT IN FLIP CHIP AMPLIFIERS

Solder bumps are placed in direct contact with the silicon substrate of an amplifier integrated circuit having a flip chip configuration. A plurality of amplifier transistor arrays generate waste heat that promotes thermal run away of the amplifier if not directed out of the integrated circuit. The waste heat flows through the thermally conductive silicon substrate and out the solder bump to a heat-sinking plane of an interposer connected to the amplifier integrated circuit via the solder bumps.

Apparatus and method for synchronizing power circuits with coherent RF signals to form a steered composite RF signal

An apparatus has a Radio Frequency (RF) signal generator to produce RF signals phase shifted relative to one another in accordance with RF frequency waveform parameters. Amplifier chains process the RF signals to produce channels of amplified RF signals. Each amplifier chain has amplifiers and at least one amplifier has a tunable gate voltage synchronized with the RF signals.

Broadband power amplifier device and transmitter

A broadband power amplifier device includes an input matching network including first, second and third inductors, a driver amplifier, and first, second and third frequency modulators. First inductor has one end connected to output of a mixer and the other end connected to one end of the first frequency modulator, with the other end of the first frequency modulator being grounded. The second inductor has one end connected to one end of first inductor and the other end connected to input of driver amplifier, with second frequency modulator being connected across second inductor. Third inductor has one end connected to output of driver amplifier and the other end connected to input of power amplifier, with third frequency modulator being connected across third inductor. Bandwidth of power amplifier device can be extended and area and current consumption thereof can be reduced, while power can be improved without large LO driver.

A communication device includes a power amplifier that generates power signals according to one or more operating bands of communication data, with the amplitude being driven and generated in output stages of the power amplifier. During a back-off power mode a bias of a capacitive unit of the output power network component can be adjusted to minimize an overall capacitance variation. An output passive network can further generate a flat-phase response between dual resonances of operation.
