METHOD, APPARATUS AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIA UTILIZING POSITIONAL INFORMATION TO DERIVE AGC OUTPUT PARAMETERS
Method and apparatus for automatic gain control utilizing sound source position information in a shared space having a plurality of microphones and a plurality of sound sources. Sound signals are received from the microphones. One or more processors locate position information corresponding to each of the sound sources. The processor(s) determine the distance to each of the sound sources from each of the microphones. The processor(s) define a predetermined gain weight adjustment for each of the microphones. The processor(s) apply the defined weight adjustments to the microphones to achieve a consistent volume of the desired plurality of sound sources. The processor(s) maintain a consistent ambient sound level regardless of the position of the sound sources and the applied gain weight adjustments. The processor(s) output a summed signal of the sound sources at a consistent volume with a constant ambient sound level across the plurality of sound source positions.

Monitoring loudness level during media replacement event using shorter time constant
In one aspect, an example method includes (i) determining, by a playback device, a first loudness level of a first portion of first media content from a first source while the playback device presents the first media content, with the first portion having a first length; (ii) switching, by the playback device, from presenting the first media content from the first source to presenting second media content from a second source; (iii) based on the switching, determining, by the playback device, second loudness levels of second portions of the first media content while the playback device presents the second media content, with the second portions having a second length that is shorter than the first length; and (iv) while the playback device presents the second media content, adjusting, by the playback device, a volume of the playback device based on one or more of the second loudness levels.

Dynamic audio equalization
Methods and systems for performing automatic speed-based audio control. One method includes receiving, with an electronic control unit included in a vehicle, a speed of the vehicle and receiving, with the electronic control unit, an audio signal. The method also includes accessing, with the electronic control unit, a plurality of equalization curves based on the speed of the vehicle, each of the plurality of equalization curves associated with the speed of the vehicle and each of the plurality of equalization curves defining a gain adjustment for one of a plurality of frequencies, and, for each curve of the plurality of equalization curves, applying the gain adjustment defined by the curve to one of the plurality of frequencies of the audio signal.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING AUDIO OUTPUT IN A TELEMATICS SYSTEM
Devices and methods for controlling audio output in a telematics system are provided. In on method a telematics device determines that a parameter has exceeded a first threshold and sends an automatic volume control trigger message to an audio output device. The telematics device determines that a second parameter has exceeded a second threshold and sends an alert message to the audio output device. The audio output device performs an automatic volume control procedure then plays back and audible alert message.
