Measuring speech intelligibility of an audio environment
An example method of operation may include initiating an automated tuning procedure, detecting via one or more microphones a sound measurement associated with an output of one or more speakers at two or more locations, determining a number of speech transmission index (STI) values equal to a number of microphones, and averaging the speech transmission index values to identify a single speech transmission index value.
Simulated auditory space for online meetings
A virtual meeting system is discussed herein. An online meeting application places participants in their own virtual location with a common virtual meeting space and adjusts the audio volume and balance on a listener's device to simulate the virtual location of the participant who is speaking. The application includes a trigonometric function to adjust the audio volume and balance based on the location of the listener relative to the speaker. The application can also permit the participants to select their own virtual locations upon entry to the virtual meeting, can assign a virtual location or adjust audio based on a participant's settings, or can allow for parallel meetings.
Speech signal leveling
A speech signal leveling system and method include generating an output signal by applying a frequency-dependent or frequency-independent controllable gain to an input signal, the gain being dependent on a gain control signal, and generating at least one speech detection signal indicative of voice components contained in the input signal. The system and method further include generating the gain control signal based on the input signal and the at least one speech detection signal, controlling the controllable-gain block to amplify or attenuate the input signal to have a predetermined mean or maximum or absolute peak signal level as long as voice components are detected in the input signal.
Speech intelligibility enhancing system
A speech intelligibility enhancing system for difficult acoustical conditions is disclosed, the speech intelligibility enhancing system comprising at least one ear plug (201) for insertion in an ear canal (218) of a person, the at least one ear plug being arranged with an ear canal facing portion (401) and an environment facing portion (402), and the at least one ear plug comprising an acoustically attenuating path (214; 214, 213) comprising a vent (214) coupling said environment facing portion (402) with said ear canal facing portion (401); and an electroacoustic path (202, 204, 209; 202, 203, 204, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212) comprising a microphone (202) at said environment facing portion (402), a variable gain (204) and a loudspeaker (209) at said ear canal facing portion (401); wherein said acoustically attenuating path (214; 214, 213) is arranged with a transfer function from said environment facing portion (402) to said ear canal facing portion (401) having a low pass characteristic having a low pass cut¬off frequency and said low pass characteristic attenuating sound by a nominal attenuation (Go) for frequencies below said cut-off frequency.
MULTI-CHANNEL CINEMA AMPLIFIER WITH POWER-SHARING, MESSAGING AND MULTI-PHASE POWER SUPPLY
An integrated cinema amplifier comprises a power supply stage that distributes power over a plurality of channels for rendering immersive audio content in a surround sound listening environment. The amplifier automatically detects maximum and net power availability and requirements based on audio content by decoding audio metadata and dynamically adjusts gains to each channel or sets of channels based on content and operational/environmental conditions. A power supply stage provides power to drive a plurality of channels corresponding to speaker feeds to a plurality of speakers. The amplifier has a front panel having an LED array with each LED associated with a respective channel or group of channels of the multi-channel amplifier, and a control unit configured to light the LEDs according to display patterns based on operating status or error conditions of the amplifier.
Playback device pairing
The present application discloses playback devices and networks, software for operating playback devices and playback device networks, and methods of operating playback devices and networks, where an individual network device is configured to switch between operating various operating modes comprising a non-paired mode and a paired mode, where the playback device is configured to output various channels of audio content within various audio frequency ranges while operating in the various operating modes.
Mobile device and method for operating the same
A mobile device and a method for operating the same are provided. The mobile device includes a sound detection unit, a signal processing unit, a sound mixing unit and a speaker. The sound detection unit detects an environment sound around the mobile device and converts the environment sound to an external sound signal. The signal processing unit analyzes the external sound signal and determines whether to enable a sound mixed mode according to an analyzed result. In the sound mixed mode, the sound mixing unit mixes a music signal with the external sound signal to generate a sound mixed signal, and the mobile device plays the sound mixed signal through the speaker.
Enhancing dynamic range based on spectral content of signal
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an apparatus for providing an output signal to an audio transducer may include a signal path and a control circuit. The signal path may include an analog signal path portion having an audio input for receiving an analog signal, an audio output for providing an output signal, and a selectable analog gain, and configured to generate the output signal based on the analog signal and in conformity with the selectable analog gain and a digital path portion having a selectable digital gain and configured to receive a digital input signal and convert the digital input signal into the analog signal in conformity with the selectable digital gain. The control circuit may be configured to determine a spectral content of a signal indicative of the output signal and change the selectable digital gain and the selectable analog gain based on the spectral content.
HEADSET, AN APPARATUS AND A METHOD WITH AUTOMATIC SELECTIVE VOICE PASS-THROUGH
In one example, a headset comprises a microphone; an earpiece that is configured to output audio based on one or more of the following: a first audio signal from a connected host device and associated with an application type and a second audio signal from the microphone, when present; a noise reduction module that is configured to reduce ambient noise; a speech detection module that is configured to detect whether a headset user is talking; a voice pass-through module that is configured to pass external voices captured with the microphone as the second audio signal to the earpiece, when activated; and a controller that is configured to activate the voice pass-through module in response to the speech detection module detecting the headset user talking, when uplink audio is off.
