Power over data lines system using split or coupled CMCs and DMCs for coupling DC voltage and attenuating common mode noise

A PoDL system conducts differential data and DC power over the same wire pair, and various DC coupling techniques are described that improve DC voltage coupling while attenuating AC common mode noise. Pairs of differential mode chokes (DMCs) are used to share current supplied by a power supply. In one embodiment, one DMC is coupled to the line side of a common mode choke (CMC), and one DMC is coupled to the PHY side of the CMC. The line-side DMC has windings that are loosely magnetically coupled so that DMC does not present a very low impedance to AC common mode noise on the wires. Therefore, the performance of the wires' RC termination circuitry is not adversely affected by the line-side DMC when minimizing reflections of common mode signals. The DMCs may use the same magnetic core, and the CMC may be series CMCs that used the same magnetic core.

Radiofrequency filter with improved attenuation of common mode signals

A radiofrequency filter utilizing a common mode choke both as a traditional common mode choke as well as the inductance in a low pass filter. Filter topology as well as component selection is optimized for wide band operation. Common mode chokes allow differential currents to pass with little attenuation while common mode currents are effectively presented with an inductance in the common current path. This inductance is used in a low pass filter configuration to present an even higher attenuation to common mode currents. The use of multiple chokes and/or differing core materials contributes to wider band operation without pronounced resonances. The capacitance used in the low pass filter is connected in a way as to reduce its effect on the data signals while still being effective in filtering.

EMC-filter for suppressing noise signals

The invention which relates to an EMC filter for the suppression of interference signals addresses the problem of specifying a solution with which reworking expenditures of an inverter board are reduced and, additionally, installation space restriction as well as reduction of development and production costs are attained. This problem is resolved thereby that in an EMC filter module at least one core of a choke with a winding is disposed on a first mounting board, that at least one of the capacitors is disposed on the first mounting board, that the first mounting board comprises at least two contact means and that the first mounting board of the EMC filter module is disposed with its contact means on a main board of an inverter and is electrically connected thereto.
