Fastener systems, methods, and articles

A fastener system for clothing and other personal items is disclosed. The fastener system uses a combination of materials to form elements that can be adapted to different fastening applications. A first component of the system includes two members. The first member has an aperture for accommodating a T-shaped attachment member and a button. The second member has a T-shaped attachment member that fits through the aperture and rotates sideways to prevent passing backward through the aperture. The second member also has a strap for securing the attachment member against the aperture by attaching the strap to the button. A second component of the system includes a button with an enlarged head and base, and a flexible washer that fits over the head of the button. Fabric of an article to be secured may be laid over the head of the button and secured around the head of the button using the washer.

Single pull squared-cord shoe closure system

A system for securing shoes to the feet using a one pull shoe closure arrangement. Each embodiment of the system uses a squared-cord arrangement that extends between the lateral and medial sides of the shoe. The various embodiments arrange a single draw strap connected to one or more squared-cord portions to draw in and tighten the sides of the squared-cord arrangement. A single pull strap in a first embodiment is redirected from a lateral orientation to a longitudinal orientation where it is drawn back and secured on the heel portion of the shoe. Alternate embodiments pull a shorter draw strap laterally to a point of securement on the side of the shoe. Further alternate embodiments pull a draw strap longitudinally along a midline at the top of the shoe to a point of securement back onto the squared-cord arrangement.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a flexible pant leg retainer designed so that it presses the end of the pant leg against a piece of footwear, such as a boot, in a tight, secure manner. Another embodiment of the present invention provides an elongated u-shaped retainer that secures a pant leg to a boot by sliding over the pant leg and around the rear portion, heel, of the boot. Yet another embodiment of the present invention provides an elongated u-shaped pant leg retainer with decorative features that are visible from the rear or sides of the retainer. Still another embodiment of the present invention provides an elongated u-shaped pant leg retainer is provided with strap attachments located on the end of each arm of the retainer.
