Sample array coding for low-delay
The entropy coding of a current part of a predetermined entropy slice is based on, not only, the respective probability estimations of the predetermined entropy slice as adapted using the previously coded part of the predetermined entropy slice, but also probability estimations as used in the entropy coding of a spatially neighboring, in entropy slice order preceding entropy slice at a neighboring part thereof. Thereby, the probability estimations used in entropy coding are adapted to the actual symbol statistics more closely, thereby lowering the coding efficiency decrease normally caused by lower-delay concepts. Temporal interrelationships are exploited additionally or alternatively.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING COMPRESSION OF PREDICTIVE MODELS
A computer-implemented method for improving compression of predictive models can include providing a labeled data set. The computer-implemented method also can include training, using the labeled data set, a neural network model associated with one or more training parameters to create a trained neural network model. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Text compression with predicted continuations
A method for text compression comprises recognizing a prefix string of one or more text characters preceding a target string of a plurality of text characters to be compressed. The prefix string is provided to a natural language generation (NLG) model configured to output one or more predicted continuations each having an associated rank. If the one or more predicted continuations include a matching predicted continuation relative to the next one or more text characters of the target string, the next one or more text characters are compressed as an NLG-type compressed representation. If no predicted continuations match the next one or more text characters of the target string, a longest matching entry in a compression dictionary is identified. The next one or more text characters of the target string are compressed as a dictionary-type compressed representation that includes the dictionary index value of the longest matching entry.
BINARIZATION OF DQP USING SEPARATE ABSOLUTE VALUE AND SIGN (SAVS) IN CABAC
Video coding systems or apparatus utilizing context-based adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) during encoding and/or decoding, are configured according to the invention with an enhanced binarization of non-zero Delta-QP (dQP). During binarization the value of dQP and the sign are separately encoded using unary coding and then combined into a binary string which also contains the dQP non-zero flag. This invention capitalizes on the statistical symmetry of positive and negative values of dQP and results in saving bits and thus a higher coding efficiency.
DYNAMIC CONTENT ENCODING
An output stream can be generated of compressed textual data. A first portion of the output stream includes an indicator that compression is used and a second portion is the compressed textual data. The textual data can be compressed by processing each byte of an input text bit-by-bit in order from most significant bit to least significant bit to generate an n-byte length context and a word context. While processing each byte, a subsequent bit is predicted based on the n-byte length context and a corresponding prediction model, and the subsequent bit is predicted based on the word context and a corresponding prediction model. The predictions can be combined to generate a final prediction. If the final prediction determines the subsequent bit, then the subsequent bit can be skipped in the output stream. The output stream can be provided to another device over a communication interface.
