Methods, devices, and systems for compressing and decompressing a stream of indices associated with graphics primitives. A group of delta values is determined based on a group of indices of the stream of indices. The group of delta values is compared to delta values in a lookup table. The group of indices is compressed based on an entry in the lookup table if the group of delta values matches all delta values in the entry, otherwise, the group of indices is compressed based on variable-length encoding.

Power-efficient deep neural network module configured for parallel kernel and parallel input processing

A deep neural network (DNN) module utilizes parallel kernel and parallel input processing to decrease bandwidth utilization, reduce power consumption, improve neuron multiplier stability, and provide other technical benefits. Parallel kernel processing enables the DNN module to load input data only once for processing by multiple kernels. Parallel input processing enables the DNN module to load kernel data only once for processing with multiple input data. The DNN module can implement other power-saving techniques like clock-gating (i.e. removing the clock from) and power-gating (i.e. removing the power from) banks of accumulators based upon usage of the accumulators. For example, individual banks of accumulators can be power-gated when all accumulators in a bank are not in use, and do not store data for a future calculation. Banks of accumulators can also be clock-gated when all accumulators in a bank are not in use, but store data for a future calculation.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DATA COMPACTION AND SECURITY USING MULTIPLE ENCODING ALGORITHMS

A system and method for encoding data using a plurality of encoding libraries. Portions of the data are encoded by different encoding libraries, depending on which library provides the greatest compaction for a given portion of the data. This methodology not only provides substantial improvements in data compaction over use of a single data compaction algorithm with the highest average compaction, but provides substantial additional security in that multiple decoding libraries must be used to decode the data. In some embodiments, each portion of data may further be encoded using different sourceblock sizes, providing further security enhancements as decoding requires multiple decoding libraries and knowledge of the sourceblock size used for each portion of the data. In some embodiments, encoding libraries may be randomly or pseudo-randomly rotated to provide additional security.

Efficient encoding methods using bit inversion and padding bits

A method of encoding data values where the data values are arranged into words, each word having a plurality of input values and one or more padding bits. A word is encoded by determining whether more than half of the bits in a portion of the word are ones, where the portion may be some or all of the bits of the input values in the word, and in response to determining that more than half of the bits in the portion are ones, inverting all the bits in the portion and setting a corresponding padding bit to a value to indicate the inversion.

Format information stored within a data block is evaluated to determine whether the data block is compressed or uncompressed. In response to the data block being compressed according to a first compression format, the data block is decompressed using the format information. The data block is compressed with one or more other data blocks to create compressed data having a second compression format different than the first compression format.
