The display apparatus according to an example embodiment includes: a first communication unit configured to communicate with a server; a second communication unit configured to communicate with an external apparatus; a display unit configured to display a message received from the server through the first communication unit; and a controlling unit configured to control the second communication unit so as to transmit a signal turning-on the external apparatus to the external apparatus, in response to a user command responding to the displayed message being received.

A display apparatus is disclosed.
