Point of sale (POS) systems and methods are described. A POS device includes a housing with a payment instrument reader. The payment instrument reader reads payment instrument information from a payment instrument in response to receipt of the payment instrument at a read area of the housing. The POS device includes a first fastening mechanism that secures the housing to a mount that is coupled to a surface of the environment. The POS device includes a cradle of the housing that receives a mobile computing device. The POS device includes a second fastening mechanism that secures the mobile computing device within the cradle. The POS device includes a connector coupled to the payment instrument reader and extending into the cradle. The connector is configured to couple to the mobile computing device in the cradle, to convey the payment instrument information from the payment instrument reader to the mobile computing device.
POINT OF SALE DEVICE FOR MOBILE COMPUTING DEVICE
Point of sale (POS) systems and methods are described. A POS device includes a housing with a payment instrument reader. The payment instrument reader reads payment instrument information from a payment instrument in response to receipt of the payment instrument at a read area of the housing. The POS device includes a first fastening mechanism that secures the housing to a mount that is coupled to a surface of the environment. The POS device includes a cradle of the housing that receives a mobile computing device. The POS device includes a second fastening mechanism that secures the mobile computing device within the cradle. The POS device includes a connector coupled to the payment instrument reader and extending into the cradle. The connector is configured to couple to the mobile computing device in the cradle, to convey the payment instrument information from the payment instrument reader to the mobile computing device.
SYSTEM FOR DISPLAYING A PORTABLE ARTICLE
A support assembly for displaying a portable article having a frame to engage the portable article and a blocking assembly configured with a plurality of arms to maintain the portable article in a display position on the frame. One of the arms is part of a first component. At least a first connector on the first component and at least a first connector on the frame are configured so that the first component can be moved in a first direction: a) from a pre-assembly position, spaced from the frame, towards the frame; and b) into an operative position to thereby cause the at least first connector on the first component to engage the at least first connector on the frame. In the operative position, the first component is substantially blocked from translating relative to the frame in a direction transversely to the first direction.
SYSTEM FOR DISPLAYING A PORTABLE ARTICLE
A support assembly for displaying a portable article having a frame to engage the portable article and a blocking assembly configured with a plurality of arms to maintain the portable article in a display position on the frame. Disclosed embodiments include electroadhesion devices for securing smartphones and other consumer devices to target surfaces. In various embodiments, the electroadhesion device may include a digital switch for adjusting the output voltage generated by a voltage converter. The digital switch may enable safe operation of the electroadhesion device by ensuring the output voltage generated by the voltage converter is compatible with the target surface. To determine a compatible output voltage, the electroadhesion device may include one or more sensors that may measure one or more characteristics of the target surface including conductivity, porosity, hardness, smoothness, and the like.
