Next-generation ultra-wideband frame formats
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are presented to transmit fragmented communication frames, such as fragmented ultra-wideband (UWB) frames. In some implementations, a communication frame may be divided into a plurality of fragments, and the fragments may be transmitted across a plurality of regulatory test intervals. E.g., each fragment may be transmitted within a mutually-exclusive regulatory test interval. In some implementations, each fragment may be constrained in time and/or transmission power, such that the total energy emitted during transmission of the fragment remains within a maximum energy limit defined for the regulatory test interval, e.g., by a regulatory entity. In some implementations, the sum of the energy emitted during transmission of two or more fragments may exceed the maximum energy limit defined for the regulatory test interval.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVELY CONTROLLING PREAMBLE IN UWB NETWORK
An electronic device for supporting an ultra wide band (UWB) protocol transmits first data, including mode information indicating whether the electronic device supports a mode associated with control of a preamble and a preamble having a first length, to an external electronic device circuit, receives second data including mode information indicating whether the external electronic device supports the mode associated with the control of the preamble from the external electronic device, and controls a length of the preamble, based on the mode information included in the second data.

A communication device includes: a plurality of wireless communication sections, each of which is configured to wirelessly receive a signal from another communication device; and a control section configured to detect a specific element in chronological information based on respective pulse signals received by the plurality of wireless communication sections, on the basis of respective pieces of chronological information including, as elements related to time, information that chronologically changes and that is obtained when the plurality of wireless communication sections receive the respective pulse signals transmitted from the other communication device, verify whether each of a plurality of the detected specific elements is based on the pulse signal coming through a shortest path, and estimate an angle from which the pulse signal has come while using axes extending from reference point, on the basis of the plurality of specific elements that are verified as elements based on the pulse signals.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PERFORMING RANGING BY USING ULTRA WIDE BAND COMMUNICATION AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
An electronic device, which performs ranging by using ultra wide band (UWB) communication, and an operating method of the electronic device, is provided. The operating method includes a first electronic device performing operations including transmitting a ranging control message including block striding information to a second electronic device, determining whether to perform hopping based on a result of transmitting the ranging control message, determining a hopping round value based on a result of determining whether to perform the hopping and the block striding information, and performing ranging with the second electronic device based on the block striding information and the hopping round value.

Wireless system and device communication management
According to one configuration, a wireless communication system includes one or more wireless communication devices and gateway hardware. The gateway hardware can be configured to notify the one or more wireless communication devices of a change associated with frequency hopping settings (such as switchover from first frequency hopping settings to second frequency hopping settings). Further, the gateway hardware can include a first radio frequency interface and a second radio frequency interface. In accordance with the frequency hopping settings, the gateway hardware: i) fixedly tunes the first radio frequency interface to a first wireless channel; and ii) while the first radio frequency interface is fixedly tuned to the first wireless channel, the gateway hardware dynamically tunes the second radio frequency interface to hop amongst multiple different wireless channels. The frequency hopping settings support different wireless power levels depending on a number of pseudorandom wireless channels that are hopped.
UWB spread spectrum power spatial combining antenna array
A log periodic antenna is used in a communication system that utilizes multiple channels to drive distinct frequency sub-bands within an ultra-wide band. The driving elements are active and specifically tuned to the operating sub-band of the channel. Each driving element may be synchronized via a single local oscillator. Driving element includes a modem and analog-to-digital converters to digitize a portion of the signal intended for the sub-band within the channel. Actively driven log periodic antennas can jam an ultra-wide band of the spectrum.

In an electronic device and an operation method thereof according to certain embodiments, the electronic device may include: a first communication circuit configured to perform a first communication using an ultra-wide band (UWB) communication scheme and a processor. The processor may control the communication circuit to: identify, based on a characteristic of data to be transmitted using the first communication circuit, a frame length of the data to be transmitted; determine, based on the identified frame length, a peak voltage of a signal containing the data to be transmitted; and transmit the data using the signal having the determined peak voltage.
