Guides and components for closure systems and methods therefor
According to an embodiment, a component for attachment to an article includes an upper component that is made of a thermoplastic material having a first melting temperature and a flange member that is molded onto the upper component and made of a thermoplastic elastomer material having a second melting temperature that is lower than the first melting temperature of the upper component. The flange member extends laterally from a bottom end of the upper component so that a bottom surface of the flange member is flush with or positioned axially below a bottom surface of the upper component. The melting temperature of the thermoplastic elastomer material enables the flange member to be directly coupled to the article via heat welding and the like without substantially affecting the upper component.
SHOE LACING SYSTEM
A shoe lacing system includes a shoelace attachment portion disposed on a tongue of the shoe lacing system between a pair of shoelace receivers, the shoelace attachment portion includes notches disposed on the shoelace attachment portion to receive and couple the shoelace. The shoe lacing system can include a pair of sliding members coupled underneath a pair of shoelace receivers that are adapted to move along a track underneath the pair of sliding members, the ends of each of the loop segments are coupled to either one of the pair of shoelace receivers or one of the pair of sliding members. The shoe lacing system can include shoelace loops that are tensioned by pulling each of the shoelace loops and crossing and coupling each of the shoelace loops to notches disposed outside of each of the pair of shoelace outlets. Additionally, a shoe lacing kit is provided that incudes at least one shoelace lacing system component, and one or more pads having piercing pins protruding from a side thereof, the one or more pads capable of securing the at lest one shoelace lacing system component to a portion of a shoe. Yet another aspect of the invention relates to a shoe lacing device, comprising a first portion and a second portion hingedly attached to the first portion, the second portion including a hook or an opening.

Footwear retention systems
A retention system for footwear can include opposed closure elements and a tensioner configured to urge the opposed closure elements toward each other in response to a tensile force applied to the tensioner. Opposed first and second anchors can be spaced from the tensioner. A retainer can have opposed first and second retainer couplers. The first retainer coupler can operatively engage the first anchor and the second retainer coupler can operatively engage the second anchor such that a tensile load applied to one or both of the first and second retainer couplers urges the retainer toward one or both of the first and second anchors. Each of the retainer couplers can be operatively engaged with the tensioner such that a tensile load applied to the tensioner urges the first retainer coupler and the second retainer coupler into tension and thereby urges the retainer toward one or both of the anchors.

Elastic closure for footwear
The elastic closure for footwear is a releasable closure for an open upper of an article of footwear. The elastic closure includes an elastomeric loop having opposed first and second ends, an anchoring member, such as a button, secured to the first end of the elastomeric loop, and an aglet secured to and covering the second end of the elastomeric loop. In use, the aglet and the second end of the elastomeric loop are inserted from above through a first eyelet of an upper of the article of footwear, so that the aglet and the second end of the elastomeric loop may be drawn through a second eyelet of the upper from below. The button prevents the first end of the elastomeric loop from passing through the first eyelet. The second end of the elastomeric loop is then stretched across the upper and releasably secured about the button.

STRUCTURE FOR ATTACHING SHOELACE WINDING APPARATUS
It is an objective of the present invention to provide a structure for attaching a shoelace winding apparatus in which a shoelace winding apparatus can be easily and firmly attached to a shoe and can be stably operated, and maintenance, such as the replacement of parts, is also easy. The present invention pertains to a structure for attaching a shoelace winding apparatus (1). The structure is provided with: a reel (4) that winds a shoelace by being rotated by an operation handle (6); a ratchet pawl (51) that limits rotation of the reel (4); and a base member (3) including a substantially cylindrical body (31), which has one closed end and accommodates the reel (4). The base member has an inner circumferential surface including an annular gear (34) with teeth that engages with the ratchet pawl (51). The structure for attaching a shoelace winding apparatus (1) includes a base-member attachment cover (9). and a flange portion (92). The cover (9) includes a substantially cylindrical cover portion (91) with a closed end. The cover portion (91) is allowed to secure the base member such that the base member is directly attachable and detachable from an outside of an upper section and held in the cover portion (91). The flange portion (92) protrudes from the circumference of the cover portion (91) and conforms to the shape of the shoe.
DETACHABLE LACE TIGHTENING SYSTEM
A detachable lace tightening system for existing footwear, said footwear including a boot having first and second opposing sides configured to fit around a foot, a plurality of eyelet members are positioned on the opposing sides from a lower end to an upper end, a footwear tongue extending from boot between the opposing sides, the system comprising: a rotatable spool detachably secured to the tongue of the footwear, a braided nylon cable insertable into the guide members having a first end and a second end; the first and second ends extend outwardly from the guide members at the upper end of the opposing sides and the first and second ends are removably secured with respect to the rotatable spool; a tightening control knob upon said spool for winding the cable around the spool to place tension on the cable in a first direction, thereby pulling opposing sides of the footwear towards each other; and a releasable lock provided for preventing rotation of the spool in the second direction whereby releasing the lock permits the spool to rotate in the second direction to release the tension in the cable and allow removal of the boot.
CLOSURE SYSTEM
A closure system including a body for receiving an object. An activation device is connected to a base structure, and is activated by placement of the object within the closure system. The activation device operates between a raised or depressed configuration, depending on the position of the object within the closure system. A tightening mechanism is responsive to the operation of the activation device. When the activation device is in the raised configuration, the tightening mechanism is loose. When the user depresses the activation device, the tightening mechanism tightens around the object. A movable displacer in a locking device for locking the configuration of the closure system and removably insertable into a recess helps better control tension within the tightening mechanism and improves comfort by disengaging the activation device from the tightening mechanism. A lace lock for locking a lace is disclosed. A lace tension distributor is also disclosed.
