A sector level sweep method and apparatus are provided. A local end generates a first sector sweep packet at the local end sector sweep stage, and the local end sends the first sector sweep packet to a peer end by using a first beam. A quantity of bytes of the first sector sweep packet is not greater than 27, the first sector sweep packet includes beam indication information of the first beam, the beam indication information includes antenna identification information of the beam, and a maximum quantity of antennas indicated by the antenna identification information is at least 8.

TECHNIQUES FOR DETERMINING A NUMBER OF RECEIVE CHAINS TO ENABLE FOR A CHANNEL

Techniques are described for wireless communication at a wireless communication device. A determination may be made regarding the number of receive chains, of a plurality of receive chains, to enable for a channel. Power to the receive chains may be regulated based on the determined number of enabled receive chains. The determination may be based on a transmission scheduling rate for the wireless communication device and a rank for the channel. In some examples, the determination may further be based on a channel quality of the channel and/or a type of traffic scheduled for the channel.

Sectorized antennas for improved airborne reception of surveillance signals

A plurality of antenna elements may receive a plurality of signals. Each of the plurality of antenna elements may correspond to at least one of a plurality of sectors of a sectorized antenna. A receiver may process each of the plurality of signals in parallel, including decoding one or more messages from the plurality of signals. The receiver may output at least one of the one or more messages.

TECHNIQUE FOR REDUCING RESPONDING SECTOR SWEEP TIME FOR MILLIMETER-WAVE DEVICES

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that may help reduce sector sweep time. In some cases, the techniques involve generating frames for transmission during a sector sweep procedure, each frame including an address field being determined based on at least one of a transmitter address of the apparatus or a receiver address of an intended recipient of the generated frames and having fewer bits than at least one of the transmitter address or the receiver address. In some cases, the techniques involve using different frame formats for initiator and responder frames transmitted during the sector sweep procedure.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPORTING SECTORIZATION COORDINATION

A method and apparatus may be used to support coordinated and cooperative sectorized transmissions. Power control and clear channel assessment for sectorized transmissions may be used, along with sectorized beacon and associated procedures. Transmissions in a network may be protected by a first access point (AP) sending an omni-directional transmission and a beamformed or sectorized transmission to a station (STA), an overlapping basic service set (OBSS) confirming a spatially orthogonal (SO) condition based on the omni-directional transmission, and a second AP monitoring the omni-directional transmission and confirming the SO condition. The STA may be configured to receive a request-to-send (RTS) frame indicating data is available for transmission, and transmit a cooperative sectorized (CS) clear-to-send (CTS) frame indicating an ability for multiple AP reception.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEDIUM ACCESS CONTROL FOR UNIFORM MULTIPLE ACCESS POINTS COVERAGE IN WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORKS

A method and apparatus may be used in multi-AP and multi-wireless transmit/receive unit joint transmissions. The apparatus may be configured to transmit a joint transmission request on a first medium, and receive a joint transmission response on the first medium. In response, the apparatus my perform a joint transmission negotiation on a second medium and transmit data on the second medium based on the joint transmission negotiation. The apparatus may be configured to perform coordinated sectorized or beamformed transmissions through access point (AP)/PCP negotiations. The apparatus may provide an indication of support for joint transmission and coordinated sectorized or beamformed transmissions. The method and apparatus may also implement multi-AP/WTRU request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) procedures. The apparatus may be configured to perform coordinated sectorized or beamforming grouping.

COMMUNICATION APPARATUS AND COMMUNICATION METHOD

A communication apparatus includes a PHY frame generating circuit that generates a PHY frame including either of a short Sector Sweep frame and a Sector Sweep frame; and an array antenna that selects, based on the PHY frame, any sector from among a plurality of sectors and transmits the PHY frame. In a case where, in the PHY frame including the short Sector Sweep frame, a Direction field of the short Sector Sweep frame indicates Initiator Sector Sweep, the PHY frame generating circuit replaces a Short Sector Sweep Feedback field indicating a number of a selected best short Sector Sweep with a Short Scrambled Basic Service Set ID field indicating an abbreviated address generated from an address of a destination communication apparatus.
