Electronic device having infrared light-emitting diode for data transmission

An electronic device may be provisioned with an infrared (IR) light-emitting diode (LED) configured to externally transmit identifying information that particularly identifies the device, such as the device serial number, to outside of the device. A companion portable IR LED reader may be used to systematically scan a row or shelf or rack of electronic devices to read the respective communication signals transmitted from each of the respective devices, thereby enabling quick and accurate physical identification of the devices in a system/datacenter and inhibiting the unnecessary removal of an incorrect or misidentified device for replacement.

CONTINUOUS-VARIABLE QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION (CV-QKD) METHOD AND SYSTEM

A continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) method and system is provided. The CV-QKD method includes: step 1: transmitting a quantum signal and a local oscillation signal synchronously based on time and polarization multiplexing, and performing detection to obtain detection data; and step 2: compensating for the detection data based on a phase compensation algorithm and public data. In this way, a phase can be compensated accurately in channel fading, so as to improve performance of the CV-QKD system.

MULTI-LAYERED SAFETY SYSTEM

Embodiments are directed towards a safety system that can be used with a high-flux power beam, such as in wireless power transmission. The system includes a transmitter that generates and transmits a power beam and a receiver that receives the power beam. A plurality of sensors is configured to independently detect if an object is near, impeding, or about to impede (i.e., impinging) the power beam. Each of the plurality of sensors is configured to detect the object at different distances between the transmitter and the receiver. A controller triggers the transmitter to stop generating the power beam when any one or more of the plurality of sensors detects the object or a combination of the plurality of sensors detects the object. The controller triggers the transmitter to re-generate and transmit the power beam when each of the plurality of sensors fails to detect the object.
