A system to detect obstacles includes a power beam transmission circuit, a power beam reception circuit arranged to receive a power beam from the power beam transmission circuit, an emitter module, and a detector module arranged to distinguish between a first characteristic and a second characteristic. The emitter module includes a first emitter arranged to emit a first signal having the first characteristic, the first signal emitted in proximity to the power beam, and a second emitter arranged to emit a second signal having the second characteristic, the second characteristic different from the first characteristic, the second signal emitted in proximity to the first signal. The detector module includes a first detector arranged to respond to the first signal emitted by the first emitter, wherein the detector module is arranged to determine when an obstacle is in or near a line-of-sight transmission path between the first emitter and the first detector.
LED light broad band over power line communication system
An LED light and communication system is in communication with a broadband over power line communications system. The LED light and communication system includes at least one optical transceiver. The optical transceiver includes a light support having a plurality of light emitting diodes and at least one photodetector attached thereto, and a processor. The processor is in communication with the light emitting diodes and the at least one photodetector. The processor is constructed and arranged to generate a communication signal.

A novel device, system and method is disclosed for transmitting audio from a wireless audio device to wireless headphones and/or speakers (or combination thereof) via a combination of digital and analog, one and/or two way, radio frequency and infrared wireless technologies for the purposes of providing entertainment for one or more listeners using the headphones or speakers with internal or external battery or power supply and one or more integrated power connections for the wireless audio device or other devices.
Laser Grid Structures for Wireless High Speed Data Transfers
Disclosed herein are various embodiments for high performance wireless data transfers. In an example embodiment, laser chips are used to support the data transfers using laser signals that encode the data to be transferred. The laser chip can be configured to (1) receive a digital signal and (2) responsive to the received digital signal, generate and emit a variable laser signal, wherein the laser chip comprises a laser-emitting epitaxial structure, wherein the laser-emitting epitaxial structure comprises a plurality of laser-emitting regions within a single mesa structure that generate the variable laser signal. Also disclosed are a number of embodiments for a photonics receiver that can receive and digitize the laser signals produced by the laser chips. Such technology can be used to wireless transfer large data sets such as lidar point clouds at high data rates.
Communication system for traffic control equipment
A traffic control system consisting of sets of traffic lights each capable of energizing a red, yellow or green traffic light in accordance with the commands issued by an electric traffic controller. The traffic controller being operatively coupled to at least one infrared transmitter configured to send out coded binary infrared signals which are coordinated to match the traffic mode of the associated traffic lights. The infrared signals being beamed by the infrared transmitter to the vehicular traffic in front of the corresponding traffic light. One or more of these vehicles having an infrared receiver coupled to an LED display, the LED display capable of displaying a red, yellow or green light. The infrared receiver configured to decode the coded binary signals sent by the infrared transmitter and capable to activate a LED light in the vehicle display that will match the color of the corresponding traffic light that is energized at any given time.

A data transmission method, device, and system includes, when a preset condition is met, determining a quantity N of first symbols included in one first symbol group and a quantity K of bits transmitted in the first symbol group, where the preset condition is log.sub.2 m.sup.N>N.Math. log.sub.2 m, K= log.sub.2 m.sup.N, m2, N2, and K3; obtaining X data blocks, where each of the first X1 data blocks includes K bits, the last data block includes Y bits, X1, and KY1; and processing each of the X data blocks into N first symbols to obtain NX first symbols, and sending the NX first symbols.
Laser based white light source configured for communication
A packaged integrated white light source configured for illumination and communication or sensing comprises one or more laser diode devices. An output facet configured on the laser diode device outputs a laser beam of first electromagnetic radiation with a first peak wavelength. The first wavelength from the laser diode provides at least a first carrier channel for a data or sensing signal.
Control signal repeater system
An example playback device includes a housing having a front side, a back side, a first end, and a second end. The playback device also includes an IR receiver positioned on the front side of the housing, a first IR emitter positioned on the back side of the housing and oriented such that a first IR signal emitted from the first IR emitter is directed toward the second end of the housing, and a second IR emitter positioned on the back side of the housing and oriented such that a second IR signal emitted from the second IR emitter a) is directed toward the first end of the housing and b) crosses the first IR signal emitted from the first IR emitter. The first and second IR emitters are communicatively coupled to the IR receiver within the housing and configured to retransmit an IR control signal received by the IR receiver.
