Method and apparatus for discovery and association for visible light communications (VLC)
A visible light communication (VLC) device and method for discovery and association with a VLC infrastructure node are disclosed. The VLC device is configured to receive a beacon frame from a VLC infrastructure node. The VLC device is further configured to transmit an association request to the VLC infrastructure node. The association request includes an indication of physical layer (PHY) capabilities and an indication of medium access control (MAC) capabilities of the VLC device. The VLC device is further configured to receive an association response from the VLC infrastructure node. The association response includes information for use in communicating with the VLC infrastructure node.
INTER-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND INTER-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION METHOD
In an inter-vehicle communication system, a first terminal included in a first vehicle includes a first control unit that receives a first relative phase between a third vehicle and a second vehicle transmitted by a second terminal included in the second vehicle and calculates, based on the received first relative phase and a second relative phase between the first vehicle and the second vehicle, a third relative phase between the first vehicle and the third vehicle, and the second terminal includes a second control unit that transmits the first relative phase to the first vehicle.
Methods and apparatus for configuration of control devices
Methods and apparatus for configuration of a physical control panel (120). In some embodiments at least one property (128) of a physical control panel (120) is detected at a mobile device (150); a plurality of events (122, 124, 126) that can be generated by the physical control panel (120) are identified; one or more control actions (154) are associated with one or more of the identified events, at the device (150); and those associations are transmitted (159) to a controller (130).
Exercise training system
An exercise training system is provided having a system controller and a plurality of stimulant target units connected via a wireless network to the system controller. Each stimulant target unit has a light source providing light to stimulate a user, a proximity sensor providing an output of a distance between the proximity sensor and an object external to the unit, and means for providing feedback to the user to signal that the unit has been actuated by the user. The system controller includes a program for activating the stimulant target units in a sequence. The reaction by the user to the illumination is registered when the user brings a body part or other object to within a selected distance of the proximity sensor, this distance being programmable by the user.
System, in particular a manufacturing system
A system for an installation and a method for operating a system, including stationary transceiver modules and a vehicle having a transceiver module, the individual transceiver module having a controllable light source and a light sensor, so that a data transmission is able to be carried out between the vehicle and the stationary modules.
Wearable electronic apparatus providing sensory feedback
Wearable electronic apparatus providing sensory feedback is provided. The wearable electronic apparatus has master beads that can power slave beads. The beads have electronic circuitry enabling visual, auditory or haptic feedback to be initiated by the master beads. Master beads of one unit of a wearable electronic apparatus communicate with master beads of another unit of another apparatus. In the presence or proximity of an authorized apparatus, the master bead causes the slave beads to provide a user with sensory feedback.
Media player
There is disclosed a media player comprising a playing unit being arranged to play at least one media element, and a processing unit being arranged to identify at least one data element in said media element, to extract said data element from the media element, and to make said data element available to an external NFC device. Furthermore, there is disclosed a corresponding method for playing media, a corresponding computer program, and a corresponding article of manufacture.
MODULAR, WIRELESS OPTICAL ANTENNA
A modular node for an optical communication network includes one or more transceiver modules of a plurality of transceiver modules, and a node core including a plurality of electrical connectors to electrically join up to the plurality of transceiver modules to the node core. At least some of the transceiver modules has an optical transceiver configured to emit optical beams carrying data and without artificial confinement, and detect optical beams emitted and without artificial confinement. The up to the plurality of transceiver modules electrically joined to the node core are spatially separated to provide configurable coverage for optical communication based on their number and placement. And the node core further includes switching circuitry configured to connect the one or more transceiver modules to implement a redistribution point or a communication endpoint in the optical communication network.
INTER-VEHICLE OPTICAL NETWORK
An inter-vehicle optical network a plurality of lights, a plurality of optical sensors arranged around the perimeter of the vehicle configured to gather light data regarding a light intensity and gradient of incoming light, a controller communicatively coupled with the plurality of lights and the plurality of optical sensors. The controller configured to receive the light data from the plurality of optical sensors, detect in the light data a second flashing light pattern emitted by an adjacent vehicle with a rhythm, a color, and/or a light intensity, adjust the light level of each light of the plurality of lights based on the light data, adjust the first flashing light pattern in response to the second flashing light pattern, and adjust the first flashing light pattern to synchronize the first flashing light pattern with the second flashing light pattern.
OPTICAL COMMUNICATION TERMINAL FOR BIDIRECTIONAL COMMUNICATION
Methods, devices, and systems are described for free space optical communication. An example method can comprise generating a first linearly polarized optical signal and converting the first linearly polarized optical signal to a first circularly polarized optical signal. The first circularly polarized optical signal can be output into free space. The method can comprise converting a second circularly polarized optical signal, received via free space, to a second linearly polarized optical signal. The second linearly polarized optical signal can have a linear polarization different than a polarization of the first linearly polarized optical signal. The method can comprise directing, via a polarizing beam splitter, the second linearly polarized optical signal to a first path separate from a second path from which the polarizing beam splitter received the first linearly polarized optical signal.
