Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for cloud gaming. In some examples, an apparatus for cloud gaming includes processing circuitry. For example, the processing circuitry receives a video sequence and metadata associated with the video sequence. The video sequence includes a sequence of picture frames generated in response to gaming control information, and the metadata is indicative of the gaming control information. The processing circuitry can configure encoding parameters based on the metadata that is indicative of the gaming control information. Then, the processing circuitry can encode the video sequence into a coded video bitstream, based on the encoding parameters.

In the method, the electronic device dynamically switches a corresponding screen refresh rate by determining whether a current display image is a high frame rate scenario or a standard frame rate scenario. In the high frame rate scenario, a relatively high screen refresh rate is used to support a high display frame rate. In this way, a user can obtain experience of the high display frame rate, and the display image is smooth without motion blur. In the standard frame rate scenario, a default low screen refresh rate is used to reduce power consumption of an entire system.

In one embodiment, a method includes, by a client system of a first user, presenting, by the client system, a display interface comprising a plurality of layers, where a first layer is a game container containing a first game, the display interface comprising an activatable element to access a video communication, receiving, by the client system, an input from the first user to initiate the video communication with a second user within the first layer of the display interface via a selection of the activatable element, generating, by the client system, a video container in a second layer of the display interface, where the second layer contains the video communication with the second user in a full-screen view, reducing, by the client system, the first layer containing the game container to a thumbnail within the display interface, and overlaying, by the client system, the first layer onto the second layer.
