CHARACTERIZING DATA TRANSMITTED OVER AN OPTICAL LINK BASED ON ONE OR MORE WAVELENGTHS USED IN TRANSMISSION

Embodiments described herein may be related to apparatuses, processes, and techniques related to characterizing data being transferred from one device to another via an optical link based upon the wavelengths within the optical link on which the data is being carried. In embodiments, the characteristics of this data may include quality of service for the data to be implemented by a field programmable gate array within a heterogeneous storage pool coupled with storage devices, where the quality of service includes minimum threshold values for bandwidth and latency. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

SPACE OPTICAL COUPLING APPARATUS

A space optical coupling apparatus, including M first couplers, a phase adjustment apparatus, N beam splitters, M second couplers, a coupling apparatus, and a controller. The first coupler receives a beam, and couples the beam to the phase adjustment apparatus. The phase adjustment apparatus includes M phase adjusters, N beam splitters, and N detectors. Each beam splitter is configured to split a received beam into two beams, one sent to a corresponding detector and the other sent to a corresponding phase adjuster. The second coupler receives output light from the coupling apparatus, and transmits the output light into the space. The coupling apparatus is configured to couple a beam onto a single-mode fiber. The controller is configured to control, based on the beam intensity detected by the detector and the beam intensity on the single-mode fiber, the M phase adjusters to adjust the phases of the received beams.

HYBRID INTEGRATION OF MICROLED INTERCONNECTS WITH ICS

For optical communications between semiconductor ICs, optical transceiver assembly subsystems may be integrated with a processor. The optical transceiver assembly subsystems may be monolithically integrated with processor ICs or they may be provided in separate optical transceiver ICs coupled to or attached to the processor ICs.

20210328686 · 2021-10-21 ·

Embodiments of the disclosure pertain to a system for transferring an optical signal from one photonics chip or integrated circuit (PIC) to another. The system includes a first PIC having (i) an optical emitter or optical transmission mechanism and (ii) a focusing mirror thereon, and a second PIC having an optical receiver and a reflecting mirror thereon. The reflecting mirror is configured to reflect light transmitted by the optical emitter or optical transmission mechanism back to the first PIC. The focusing mirror is configured to (i) further reflect the light reflected by the reflecting mirror and (ii) focus the further reflected light on the optical receiver. Methods of using and manufacturing the system are also disclosed.

INTERCONNECT NETWORKS USING MICROLED-BASED OPTICAL LINKS

Integrated circuit chips may be optically interconnected using microLEDs. Some interconnections may be vertically-launched parallel optical links. Some interconnections may be planar-launched parallel optical links.

PARALLEL OPTICAL COMMUNICATION CHANNELS USING MICROLEDS

Coupling of light from large angular distribution microLEDs into smaller angular acceptance distribution of transmission channels is performed using optical elements.

COUPLING MICROLEDS TO OPTICAL COMMUNICATION CHANNELS

Light from one or more microLEDs may be coupled into multiple waveguide cores. Parabolic reflectors, truncated parabolic reflectors, and encapsulants may be used to increase fraction of emitted light coupled into the waveguide cores.
