The processor may be configured to transmit a first signal through the first antenna element, to receive a second signal including a signal obtained as the first signal is reflected by a target object, through the second antenna element, to calculate a distance from the antenna module to the target object based on a phase of the second signal, and to reduce a power level of the antenna module when the distance to the target object is smaller than a reference distance. The processor is configured to: control the communication circuit such that a first signal is output to the first antenna; acquire a second signal corresponding to the first signal reflected from the first antenna, and a third signal corresponding to the first signal output through the first antenna and received by the second antenna; identify a reflection coefficient at which the first signal is reflected from the first antenna, and a transmission coefficient at which the first signal is transmitted to the second antenna; and perform a designated function according to a value corresponding to a distance between the electronic device and an external object.

Extraction of a carrier signal is performed through a power distribution coupling network; the carrier signal as extracted excites a non-linear device to generate an intermodulation signal; this part of signal, together with the excitation signal, is coupled back to two ports of the generator by the same power distribution coupling network, thereby forming reflected and transmitted reference intermodulation levels as reference sources for calibrating the intermodulation testing apparatus. Other embodiments may also be possible.
