Antenna detection using antenna return loss

A system includes a radio frequency (RF) connector terminal that is configured to connect to an antenna, and a RF transmitter that transmits RF power to the RF connector terminal. The system further includes a power measurement unit that measures, as a first power measurement, first RF power of the RF transmitter power that is reflected via the RF connector terminal, and a controller that causes a transmission path discontinuity between the RF transmitter and the RF connector terminal. The power measurement unit further measures, as a second power measurement, second RF power of the RF transmitter power that is reflected from the discontinuity. The controller further determines if a first antenna is connected to the RF connector terminal based on the first and second power measurements.

Communication device and method for echo signals management

A communication device includes a donor receiver that receives a plurality of first beam of input radio frequency (RF) signals. The communication device further includes a service transmitter that transmits a plurality of second beam of RF signals in a first radiation pattern to a user equipment (UE). The communication device further includes control circuitry that detects an amount and a direction of reflected RF signals at the donor receiver. The control circuitry applies polarization to the plurality of second beam of RF signals and calibrates the polarization to minimize the reflected RF signals at the donor receiver. A second radiation pattern is generated for the plurality of second beam of RF signals and communicated to the UE based on the calibrated polarization.

The apparatus further includes a controller operably connected to the radar circuit, the controller configured to identify a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of a long constant amplitude zero autocorrelation (CAZAC) sequence including multiple segments, identify, via the MAC controller, time-frequency resources for the multiple segments, identify a set of time-frequency sub-channels in the time-frequency resources, and sequentially map each of the multiple segments to each of the set of time-frequency sub-channels. The radar circuit is configured to transmit, via the transmitter, a first signal based on the set of time-frequency sub-channels.

Intelligent distributed antenna system monitoring

An intelligent distributed antenna system is disclosed which improves upon known distributed antenna systems particularly with respect to identifying failures or anomalies in the system. The disclosed system includes a signal source, a master unit, and one or more remote units each connected to antennas for transmitting radio frequency signals to terminal units and each connected to the master unit through fiber. The remote units, the master unit, or both may include power signal readers. The remote units may be configured to determine a point of failure in the system based on the power measured from reflected signals. The master unit can be in communication with the remote units to generate alarms and reports as well as to control the system in response to detection of a failure or anomaly.

System and method for active S11 detection in phased array transceivers

Devices and methods for detection of active return loss for an antenna element of a plurality of antenna elements of a phased array antenna are provided. An exemplary device can convert a voltage differential at an input of a power amplifier (PA) to first current. The device can convert a coupled voltage corresponding to a signal transmitted from the PA to a respective antenna element, to a second current. The device can convert a reflected voltage corresponding to a signal reflected from the respective antenna element, to a third current. The device can convert the first current, the second current, and the third current to an output voltage at a generator output. The device can further have a controller that can adaptively generate codebooks for transmission based on the output voltage.

One example method includes transmitting and receiving packetized wireless communications between first and second communications devices via a bidirectional wireless link. The method includes receiving, by a first communications device from a second communications device, feedback information including an indication of a blockage in the communication channel, the indication including information indicating the presence and extent of the blockage, wherein the feedback does not include status indications for individual received packets. The method includes, responsive to receiving the indication of a blockage in the communication channel, determining a packet repeat value based on the feedback information, wherein the packet repeat value may be greater than one. The method includes modifying a transmit signal of the bidirectional wireless link to repeat transmitted packets based on the packet repeat value.

The over-the-air measurement system includes a piping system comprising at least one pipe connected to the temperature generating unit for passing the heated or cooled air generated by the temperature generating unit into at least one opening of an enveloping material surrounding the device under test or for siphoning the heated or cooled air.

A system for downhole frequency re-tuning includes a receiver antenna, a receiver matching network, a transmitter antenna, the transmitter antenna outputting a signal that is received at the receiver antenna, a transmitter matching network, a power amplifier providing operational power to the transmitter antenna, and a frequency sweeping system. The frequency sweeping system includes an oscillator, coupled to the power amplifier, the oscillator providing an input signal to the power amplifier to adjust power output to the transmitter antenna. The system also includes a circulator, positioned between the power amplifier and the transmitter matching network, the circulator directing the operational power to the transmitter antenna. The system further includes a reflected power meter, coupled to the circulator, the reflected power meter receiving reflected power at the transmitter antenna responsive to receiver antenna.
