ENERGY EFFICIENT ULTRA-WIDEBAND IMPULSE RADIO SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology exploits modulated coded impulses over a wide frequency spectrum with very low power over a short distance for digital data transmission. Such UWB systems through their receivers may operate in the presence of interfering signals and should provide for robust communications. Accordingly, an accurate and sharp filter that operates at low power is required and beneficially one that does not require a highly accurate power heavy clock. Further, many UWB applications require location and/or range finding of other elements and it would therefore be beneficial to provide a UWB based range finding and/or location capability removing the requirement to add additional device complexity and, typically significant, power consumption.

The operating method includes a first electronic device performing operations including transmitting a ranging control message including block striding information to a second electronic device, determining whether to perform hopping based on a result of transmitting the ranging control message, determining a hopping round value based on a result of determining whether to perform the hopping and the block striding information, and performing ranging with the second electronic device based on the block striding information and the hopping round value.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING LOCATION OF MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC DEVICES BASED ON TIME SCHEDULING INFORMATION IN CONNECTION WITH ULTRA-WIDE BAND COMMUNICATION
An electronic device includes an ultra-wide band (UWB) communication module; a memory; and a processor operably connected to the UWB communication module and the memory, wherein the processor is configured to receive, through the UWB communication module, a first message from a first external electronic device at a first time slot; store, in the memory, the first message and a receiving time of the first message; receive, through the UWB communication module, a second message from a second external electronic device at a second time slot; store, in the memory, the second message and a receiving time of the second message; identify a time schedule information for transmitting a third message to the first external electronic device and the second external electronic device, the time schedule information including a transmitting time of the third message; obtain first time information regarding a period of time between the receiving time of the first message and the transmitting time of the third message and second time information regarding a period of time between the receiving time of the second message and the transmitting time of the third message; and transmit, through the UWB communication module, the third message including the first time information and the second time information to the first external electronic device and the second external electronic device at a third time slot.
CONTROL DEVICE AND PROGRAM
There is provided a mechanism that can reduce a process amount required to measure a distance.
There is provided a control device that includes a control section configured to control a distance measurement process of calculating a distance measurement value that is a measurement value of a distance between communication devices, and in which the control section calculates the distance measurement value based on at least time information that is information related to a time taken for transmission and reception of a signal between the communication devices.
LOCATION SYSTEM FOR DETECTING POSITION AND ORIENTATION OF MOVABLE UNITS
A location system includes transmission reception devices. A first transmission reception device is configured to operate as a stationary unit of the location system for localizing tag devices by exchanging ultra-wideband signals. The tag devices is localizable within a localizing space that extends along a high-resolution line associated with the first transmission reception device. The system also includes a movable unit and first and second tag devices that are positioned at the movable unit and are separated from each other by a tag separation distance. A control system is configured to perform an ultra-wideband signal analysis to determine the distance from a selected tag device to the first transmission reception device and to derive an orientation of the movable unit with respect to the high-resolution line from distances determined for the first tag device and the second tag device.
