Efficient Fairness Allocation in Powerline CSMA/CA Protocols
Transmission over a communication channel using carrier sense multiple access collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) may be performed by determining for each frame if the communication channel is busy after a backoff time proportional to a randomly generated number within a contention window (CW). When the channel is not busy, a frame of data may be transmitted. When the channel is busy, the device may periodically determine if the communication channel is busy after subsequent backoff times. The value of CW is adjusted for each subsequent backoff time using a fairness protocol, in which the value of CW is increased until the value of CW reaches a maximum CW value; and then the value of CW is held until a fairness number of backoff repetitions reaches a fairness threshold; then the value of CW is reduced incrementally until the value of CW reaches a minimum CW value.
Outbound interference reduction in a broadband powerline system
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for reducing outbound interference in a broadband powerline communication system. Data is modulated on first and second carrier frequencies and is transmitted via respective first and second lines of the powerline system. A characteristic of at least one of the carrier signals (e.g., phase or amplitude) is adjusted in order to improve the electrical balance of the lines of the transmission system. This improvement in electrical balance reduces the radiated interference of the powerline system. Also disclosed is the use of a line balancing element on or more lines of the powerline system for altering the characteristics of at least one of the power lines in order to compensate for a known imbalance of the transmission system.
Method and device for stabilizing impedance on a power-line communication device
An impedance stabilization network is disposed between a power supply and a mains entry of a power-line communication (PLC) device. The network may include: a first branch electrically coupled to a phase terminal of the power supply and electrically coupled to the phase line of the mains; a second branch electrically coupled to a neutral terminal of the power supply and electrically coupled to the neutral line of the mains; and a third branch electrically coupled to one or both of the phase terminal and the neutral terminal of the power supply and to the earth line of the mains.

ESTIMATING BEAMFORMED MIMO CHANNEL PROPERTIES FROM NON-BEAMFORMED SOUNDINGS
A method for determining transmission properties of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel. In one embodiment, a MIMO receiver receives a non-beamformed, spatial-multiplexed (SM) sounding signal over multiple signal paths of the MIMO channel. The receiver determines beamforming information including beamforming coefficients and beamforming Eigenvalues for the MIMO channel based, at least in part, on frequency responses of the signal paths. The receiver determines a first signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimate for one or more SM data streams of the SM sounding signal based, at least in part, on the determined beamforming information.

The present invention is directed to polyisocyanates and polyurethanes derived therefrom. In various embodiments, the present invention provides polyisocyanates, methods of making the polyisocyanates from fused bicyclic alcohols, polyurethanes, and methods of making the polyurethanes from the polyisocyanates.
COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND METHOD PROVIDING BEAMFORMING FOR TWO OR MORE TRANSMISSION CHANNELS
A control unit of a communication device provides multicast precoding information from at least first beamforming information descriptive for a first transmission channel and second beamforming information descriptive for a second transmission channel. A precoder unit beamforms at least one signal using the multicast precoding information to obtain at least two precoded signals. A transmitter circuit which is electrically coupled to the precoder unit multicasts transmission signals through the at least first and a second transmission channels, wherein the transmission signals are derived from the precoded signals.
