Apparatus and methods for processing ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, a system that facilitates receiving a plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves that propagates along a surface of a transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path, wherein the plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves conveys a plurality of communication signals, obtaining, from the plurality of ultra-wideband electromagnetic waves, at least one communication signal from the plurality of communication signals, and distributing the at least one communication signal to at least one communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SECURING COMMUNICATION OF INSTRUCTIONS TO MANAGE ANTENNA POWER OUTPUT

A system of antenna power management security may comprise a memory for storage in a standard absorption rate control register of code instructions executed to alter a transmitting antenna power level, and a processor operably connected to the memory executing code instructions of an antenna power management security system to store a randomly generated challenge number in a challenge register of the memory, determine a first response value based on the randomly generated challenge number, read a second response value determined by the processor executing code instructions of a basic input output system and stored in the memory, and if the first response value matches the second response value, allow the processor executing code instructions of the basic input output system to store a single command in the standard absorption rate control register within a preset time period, for later execution by the processor.

Electronic device and cable and method of driving the same

An electronic device, a cable, and a method of driving the same are provided. The cable that transmits data and power includes a notification device comprising notification circuitry configured to output a notification when the power is transmitted, a first connector positioned at one end of the cable, a second connector positioned at an other end of the cable, a wire connecting the first and second connectors and including a data line that transmits the data and a power line that transmits the power, and a cable controller connected to the power line and configured to identify a characteristic of power transmitted through the power line and to change a form of the notification output from the notification device based on the identified power characteristic.

Wi-Fi/BPL dual mode repeaters for power line networks

A method and apparatus for maintaining network connectivity over power lines is disclosed. Such network connectivity is maintained even if various customers are covered by different power line networks or if one or more power lines in a network are unavailable to transmit data. More particularly, in order to bridge a gap in a power line network, one or more messages are extracted from a first node in a power line network and are then transmitted to a second node via free space transmission, illustratively wireless radio frequency (RF) transmission conforming to one or more of the 802.11a, b or g standards. When those messages are received at the second node, the message is injected back into the power line on the other side of a gap in power line coverage. This method of transmission backup will continue until power line connectivity is restore upon which the preferred method will be selected and used.

Backhaul link for distributed antenna system

A distributed antenna and backhaul system provide network connectivity for a small cell deployment. Rather than building new structures, and installing additional fiber and cable, embodiments described herein disclose using high-bandwidth, millimeter-wave communications and existing power line infrastructure. Above ground backhaul connections via power lines and line-of-sight millimeter-wave band signals as well as underground backhaul connections via buried electrical conduits can provide connectivity to the distributed base stations. An overhead millimeter-wave system can also be used to provide backhaul connectivity. Modules can be placed onto existing infrastructure, such as streetlights and utility poles, and the modules can contain base stations and antennas to transmit the millimeter-waves to and from other modules.

Method and apparatus for automatically deducing a trailer is physically coupled with a vehicle

A method and a management server for automatically deducing a trailer is physically coupled with a vehicle are described. First location data including locations for the vehicle is received, from a first gateway device located on the vehicle. Second location data are received from second gateway devices, where each one of the second gateway devices is on a respective trailer from a set of trailers and each second location data includes locations for the respective trailer. For each trailer that meet a set of criteria, a score is calculated based at least in part on the first location data and the second location data of the trailer, where the score estimates a measure of association of the trailer with the vehicle. A first trailer is selected, based on the scores of the trailers, to be associated with the vehicle indicating that the first trailer is physically coupled with the vehicle.

Method and apparatus for wireless communications to mitigate interference

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, generating a wireless signal at a first network device and directing the wireless signal towards a second network device of another utility pole, which includes directing the wireless signal away from another network device of the other utility pole. Other embodiments are disclosed.
