The process is implemented with a modem device modulator and demodulator that provides communication with several other modem devices along any communication media that uses an FM OFDM modulation technique, a physical transmission medium such as power lines, or wireless (air), or cable, or twisted pairs communication media.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DATA TRANSMISSION ON BOARD A WATERCRAFT

A method and a device can be used to transmit data onboard a watercraft using an onboard power supply network. A central control unit generates an instruction for a first consumer module. The instruction is transmitted from the central control unit via a first control unit-head station data connection to a first head station. The first head station converts the instruction into an instruction signal that is transmittable via the power supply network. The instruction signal is transmitted from the first head station via a first head station-power line data connection, the power supply network, and a first coupling module-power line data connection to a first coupling module. From the instruction signal, the first coupling module again generates an instruction that can be transmitted via a data connection. The instruction is transmitted from the first coupling module via a first coupling module-consumer data connection to the first consumer module.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR POWERING AND COMMUNICATING WITH MULTIPLE FIXTURES

A system (and system controller) has powering of, and communication with, a set of fixtures using an AC cable having a power line (e.g. a mains live wire), a reference line (e.g. a mains neutral wire) and a data line. Fixtures are at different positions along the cable, each powered by the local voltage difference between the power line and the reference line. A system controller provides a data signal over the data line, wherein the data signal for a fixture is defined by the local voltage difference between the data signal on the data line and the reference line (or power line). In order to compensate for voltage drops, a compensation circuit adds a voltage offset waveform to the data signal which is dependent on the overall set of positions of the fixtures. This enables an increased number of fixtures and/or reach of the fixtures connected to the system controller.

Methods and apparatus for regulating a magnetic flux in an inductive power supply

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, supplying an alternating voltage waveform to a winding coupled to a magnetic core of an inductive power supply to regulate an alternating magnetic flux in the magnetic core. The alternating voltage waveform can be generated by selectively enabling one or more switches coupled to a storage device. The subject disclosure may further include configuring the one or more switches according to a configuration during a portion of a period of the alternating voltage waveform, and measuring a characteristic of an alternating current flowing in a conductor coupled to the magnetic core during the portion of the period of the alternating voltage waveform. Other embodiments are disclosed.

LONG PREAMBLE AND DUTY CYCLE BASED COEXISTENCE MECHANISM FOR POWER LINE COMMUNICATION (PLC) NETWORKS
20210194541 · 2021-06-24 ·

Embodiments of methods and systems for supporting coexistence of multiple technologies in a Power Line Communication (PLC) network are disclosed. A long coexistence preamble sequence may be transmitted by a device that has been forced to back off the PLC channel multiple times. The long coexistence sequence provides a way for the device to request channel access from devices on the channel using other technology. The device may transmit a data packet after transmitting the long coexistence preamble sequence. A network duty cycle time may also be defined as a maximum allowed duration for nodes of the same network to access the channel. When the network duty cycle time occurs, all nodes will back off the channel for a duty cycle extended inter frame space before transmitting again. The long coexistence preamble sequence and the network duty cycle time may be used together.

Methods, apparatus and devices are disclosed for identifying and of controlling communications on interfering links in a local area network (20) having user-devices (22, 23, 24, 25) located therein operable to communicate via a local area network (LAN) gateway device (30, 50) with remote devices in a communications network (10,15) outside the LAN (20), communications being carried via one or more LAN links (28) for at least a portion of a path between user-devices (22, 23, 24, 25) and the gateway device (30, 50), and being carried via a digital subscriber (xDSL) line (19) for at least a portion of a path between the gateway device (30, 50) and the remote devices. The method comprises triggering performance of a signal transmission action on a LAN link during a predetermined period; monitoring digital subscriber line (DSL) performance characteristics in respect of data communications on the xDSL line (19) during said predetermined period whereby to identify changes therein; classifying the LAN link as an interfering link in the event that identified changes in DSL performance characteristics coincide with the predetermined period during which the signal transmission action has been performed; and adjusting the data flow rate in respect of data flow on a LAN link if it is classified as an interfering link.
