Resource allocation in communications networks using probability forecasts
A system (1000) is disclosed including a resource allocation optimization (RAO) platform (1002) for optimizing the allocation of resources in network (1004) for delivery of assets to user equipment devices (UEDs) (1012). The RAO platform (1002) determines probabilities that certain asset delivery opportunities (ADOs) will occur within a selected time window and uses these probabilities together with information concerning values of asset delivery to determine an optimal use of asset deliveries. In this regard, the RAO platform (1004) received historical data from repository (1014) that facilitates calculation of probabilities that ADOs will occur. Such information may be compiled based on asset delivery records for similar network environments in the recent past or over time.
DATA PROCESSING APPARATUS AND DATA PROCESSING METHOD
The present technology relates to a data processing apparatus and a data processing method capable of achieving higher convenience in a case where a plurality of transmission formats is available in a transmission frame.
The data processing apparatus installed in a transmission-side facility processes a transmission frame transmitted as a broadcast signal and adds identification information for identifying the transmission format of the transmission frame, while a data processing apparatus installed in a reception-side facility processes a transmission frame in which a transmission frame has been identified, on the basis of identification information added to the transmission frame transmitted as the broadcast signal. The present technology can be applied as a method of a test stream, for example.
Methods and systems for increasing bandwidth efficiency in satellite communications
Methods and systems are provided for increasing bandwidth efficiency in satellite communications. In some embodiments, a satellite communications method is provided that comprises receiving, at a satellite and from a plurality of user ground terminals, a plurality of source signals, wherein each of the source signals are modulated according to at least one source modulation method, and further receiving, at a satellite and from a plurality of user ground terminals, a plurality of information signals corresponding to the plurality of source signals. The method further includes combining, at the satellite, the plurality of source signals into a combined source signal with an overlapping bandwidth, wherein each of the source signals are further modulated according to at least one predetermined modulation method before they are combined, and transmitting, by a downlink transmission from the satellite to a gateway ground station, the combined source signal.
Satellite communication system and satellite communication ground apparatus
A satellite communication system includes a plurality of satellite communication ground apparatuses to decode data encoded by an error-detecting code received over a downlink channel, and request retransmission on data in which an error has been detected by the decoding, and a non-geostationary satellite to emit radio waves on the downlink channel to transmit data to the satellite communication ground apparatuses by the downlink channel, and retransmit data that the non-geostationary satellite has been requested by the satellite communication ground apparatuses to retransmit, intensively in a time period during which the non-geostationary satellite moves in a predetermined specific location in a satellite orbit.
Audio preview of music
Systems, methods, and machine-readable media are disclosed for providing an audio preview of songs and other audio elements. In some embodiments, an electronic device may operate in either a play mode, which allows a user to listen to songs in a normal fashion, or in a preview mode, which may be used to provide previews of songs to a user in succession. In some embodiments, the electronic device may seamlessly transition between play mode and preview mode. For example, the electronic device may pause a currently-playing song when the mode of operation switches from play mode to preview mode so that, if the user exits out of preview mode, the original song may be resumed from the pause point. In some embodiments, the electronic device may provide a multi-directional visual interface that allows a user to control the succession of previews provided in preview mode.
DUAL LEO SATELLITE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GLOBAL COVERAGE
The present invention relates to satellite systems and more particularly, to the provision of a satellite system and method for communications applications, with global coverage. An optimal method of providing global broadband connectivity has been discovered which uses two different LEO constellations with inter-satellite links among the satellites in each constellation, and inter-satellite links between the constellations. The first constellation is deployed in a polar LEO orbit with a preferred inclination of 99.5 degrees and a preferred altitude of 1000 km. The second constellation is deployed in an inclined LEO orbit with a preferred inclination of 37.4 degrees and a preferred altitude of 1250 km.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR USING SELECTED CONTENT TRACKS FROM TWO OR MORE PROGRAM CHANNELS TO AUTOMATICALLY GENERATE A BLENDED MIX CHANNEL FOR PLAYBACK TO A USER UPON SELECTION OF A CORRESPONDING PRESET BUTTON ON A USER INTERFACE
A method and apparatus are provided for generating a personalized radio channel playlist by simultaneously buffering multiple received channels from one or more source streams, and then selecting songs or tracks to playback from the buffered channels. Users can specify favorite channels for building their personal playlists, or multiple default playlist channels can be provided by genre or channels related in some other way. Navigation tools permit users to skip ahead and backward in the playback stream. A personalized radio channel playlist can be implemented as (1) content selected from buffered channels based on user preferences for artists, songs and the like, or (2) as a Mix Channel in which content from selected buffered channels is automatically mixed for playback in response to selection of a preset button assigned to the Mix Channel.
