Information about desired songs is collected on a portable memory device in communication with a radio tuner. The radio tuner may receive signals from a terrestrial or satellite digital radio transmission, or from an analog radio transmission. These transmissions may include text data about the current song being played. Upon activation by a user, song data is stored on the memory device. The memory device is then connected to a computer system, which uses software to extract the song data and uniquely identify the song. The identified songs are stored on the computer system, and can be used to allow the user easy access to the identified song through prior art techniques. If no textual data is stored about a song, the song is identified by identifying the radio station that played the song and the time at which the user activated the mechanism.

ACR-based radio metadata in the cloud

A system comprises a first server including a port, a memory, a processor operatively coupled to the port and memory, and a service application for execution by the processor. The service application is configured to: receive identification information related to an over-the-air radio broadcast via the port of the first server, wherein the identification information is transmitted to the first server using a radio broadcast receiver remote from the first server; communicate a request for automatic content recognition (ACR) of an Internet-based streaming version of the over-the-air radio broadcast; and receive metadata associated with the over-the-air radio broadcast in response to the request and initiate transmission of the metadata to the radio broadcast receiver.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR UNIFYING LOCAL CHANNELS WITH OVER-THE-TOP SERVICES
20220311528 · 2022-09-29 ·

Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for unifying local channels with Over-the-Top (OTT) services (e.g., Internet-streaming media services). In one example aspect, a location is determined. Based on the determined location, a list of local channels available for broadcast in the geographic area is retrieved. The list of local channels is then compared to a list of channels offered via at least one OTT service. Based on the comparison with the OTT service channel offering, a subset of available local channels may be determined. The electronic programming guide (EPG) data and other programming metadata associated with the local channels may be downloaded and provided to the OTT service. The local channels, along with the EPG data and programming metadata, may be merged with the OTT service so that the local channels may be streamed via the OTT service.

Fast pre-station list representation in a single FM tuner system

Embodiments are disclosed of methods and systems for providing information in a single FM tuner system. An example method according to the disclosure provides station information in a single FM tuner system, and comprises receiving radio data system (RDS) data/radio broadcast data system (RBDS) data by the single FM tuner system; extracting frequency information regarding receivable stations from the received RDS/RBDS data and displaying a list of the receivable frequencies; extracting additional information regarding the receivable stations from the received RDS/RBDS data, and displaying the extracted additional information regarding the receivable stations in correspondence with the respective receivable frequencies in the list. Further a single FM tuner system is provided for carrying out the method.

A receiving apparatus includes a control unit that performs a process of searching for one of a channel and a content on the basis of a phrase that is recognized from an uttered speech of a user, a process of selecting one of a single channel and a single content from among a plurality of channels and a plurality of contents obtained through the search process, a process of displaying, on a display unit, one of the selected content and a content that is being broadcasted on the selected channel, and a process of displaying, as options, item images representing a plurality of channels or a plurality of contents that are obtained through the search process on the display unit.

COMPUTING DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREFOR

Provided are an artificial intelligence (AI) system that simulates functions of a human brain such as recognition and judgment by utilizing a machine learning algorithm such as deep learning, etc. and an application of the AI system. A computing apparatus is disclosed. A computing apparatus comprises a memory storing instructions and a processor executing the instructions in the memory to obtain a keyword corresponding to a broadcast channel from a speech signal included in a broadcast signal received through the broadcast channel, determine a relation between genre information of the broadcast channel obtained from metadata about the broadcast channel and the obtained keyword and determine a genre of the broadcast channel based on the genre information obtained from the metadata or by analyzing an image signal included in the broadcast signal, according to the determined relation.

Methods and apparatus for multi-television measurements

Conventional television audience measurements are made with diaries or by imaging the area in front of a television and trying to identify the people in the images watching television. Unfortunately, diaries are only accurate if the audience members record entries in them, and image-based techniques are intrusive. The present techniques address these problems by using a viewer's wearable device to measure a viewer's proximity to a television. The wearable device emits or receives low-power beacon signals; measurements of the signal strength are used to calculate the viewer's distance to the television. If the viewer is close enough to the television and the television is on, the viewer may be engaged with the content on the television. This system is simple, non-intrusive, and can used to measure engagement with each television in a multi-television household.

Disclosed is a display apparatus including: a receiver; a communicator; a display; and a processor configured to: obtain first media information and a service app from a broadcast signal received through the receiver, receive second media information corresponding to the first media information from a server through the communicator by executing the obtained service app, identify a different schedule section based on comparison in between content schedule of the first media information and content schedule of the second media information, and perform an operation convenient for a user to use the broadcast program, based on the identified schedule section.

Identification of concurrently broadcast time-based media

A real time messaging platform identifies an audio snippet of a time-based media (TBM) event. The messaging platform maintains a real time repository of concurrently broadcasting TBM events as well as a historical repository of previously broadcast TBM events. These repositories contain acoustic fingerprints of their respective TBM events. The messaging platform matches an acoustic fingerprint of the audio snippet with one of the stored acoustic fingerprints to identify the TBM event in the recorded snippet. To identify the TBM event, the messaging platform matches multiple overlapping reference audio segments of the reference audio stream with multiple test audio segments of the audio snippet. This allows the platform to account for time delays between the test and reference audio segments that would otherwise hinder the matching process.
