Receiver of television and/or radio signals, configured to prepare access to content included in said television and/or radio signals based on the geographical location of said receiver

A receiver of radio and/or television signals, where the signals are transmitted via radio by transmitters and are received by said receiver, including: a means for receiving signals via radio that, through tuning information, is configurable for reception of content of the received radio and/or television signals; a memory means containing at least geographic transmission information, which includes geographical areas of coverage of the transmitters that transmit the signals received by the reception means, wherein the geographical transmission information is comparable with the tuning information; and a central computing unit configured to determine the geographical location of the receiver according to the geographical transmission information and the tuning information, the central computing unit also being configured to prepare access to the tuning information based on the geographical location of the receiver in order to organize access to the contents relating to the location of the receiver.

Streaming media authorization based on call signs

Disclosed are various embodiments for determining whether a client device is authorized to receive media content based at least in part on the call signs of broadcast stations that the client device is able to receive. A computing device receives a broadcast station identifier and a program identifier from a client computing device. The computing device determines that the client computing device is authorized to access media content identified by the program identifier based at least in part on the broadcast station identifier. Finally, the computing device streams the media content to the client computing device in response to determining that the client computing device is authorized to access the media content.

RADIO STATION PROVIDER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A method may include receiving radio station data associated with multiple radio stations from one or more radio station providers and filtering the radio stations based at least in part on playback availability. Playback availability may include a broadcast right associated with the one or more radio station providers. The method may also include removing duplicate radio stations and supplying a searchable radio station directory to a platform or a client device.

Disclosed example audience measurement apparatus determine a first audience metric based on set-top box return path tuning data obtained from set-top boxes located in a first geographic area; determine a second audience metric from a portion of audience measurement data corresponding to a second geographic area, the portion of the audience measurement data associated with monitored sites in the second geographic area having second set-top box characteristics that correspond with first set-top box characteristics of the set-top boxes located in the first geographic area; determine ratios of (i) respective first audience metrics determined for respective demographic stratifications to (ii) corresponding second audience metrics determined for the respective demographic stratifications; and combine the ratios after multiplication with third audience metrics determined, for the respective demographic stratifications, from the audience measurement data to determine an audience exposure metric that estimates exposure to media in the first geographic area.

BROADCAST RECEIVER

A broadcast receiver is capable of automatically switching to an applicable frequency of a radio station in a region, and stores plural geocodes related respectively to area blocks of the region, and plural frequencies related the radio station and each corresponding to one of the area codes. The broadcast receiver obtains a geographic coordinate set when a radio signal currently received from the radio station has poor quality. Then, the broadcast receiver converts the coordinate set to a geocode, finds an area code corresponding to the geocode, and receives the radio signal from the radio station on the frequency corresponding to the area code.

A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for identifying content from one or more radio frequency signals. One or more radio frequency signals are monitored for available content. The one or more radio frequency signals with available content are processed to obtain audio or data associated with the one or more radio frequency signals. The obtained audio or data is analyzed. The radio frequency signals are categorized based on the analyzed audio or data. One or more items of information related to the radio frequency signals are identified. The one or more items of categorizing information are stored.

Method and system for detecting unauthorized use of a set top box using satellite signal identification

A user device and method comprising a satellite signal determination module receiving a satellite signal from a satellite comprising a first satellite signal identifier, a memory storing an expected satellite signal identifier for an authorized location of the user device, a comparison module comparing the first satellite signal identifier to the expected satellite signal identifier to identify the first satellite signal as unexpected when the first satellite signal is not the expected satellite signal and a disable module disabling the user device from processing satellite signals in response to comparing.

Method And System For Determining A Location Of A Mobile Device And Utilizing The Location In Content Services

A system and method for controlling a mobile device at a headend includes the mobile device communicating a request for content to the headend. The headend requests geographic coordinate location data from the mobile device and, when geographic coordinate data is available, determines a first geographic region associated with the mobile device in response to the geographic coordinate location data. When geographic coordinate data is not available from the mobile device, the headend extracts an IP address from the request and determines a second geographic region based on the IP address and a confidence level. When the confidence level is below a threshold, the headend determines a third geographic region based on subscriber data for the mobile device. The headend controls the mobile device in response to one of the first geographic region, the second geographic region and the third geographic region.
