A method of operating a mobile receiving system includes the steps of registering and storing, in a first cycle, a plurality of receivable transmitters in a first specifiable frequency range with a first receiving method, and establishing a number of the receivable transmitters from the first cycle. The method further includes the steps of registering and storing, in a second cycle, a plurality of receivable transmitters in the first specifiable frequency range with the first receiving method, and establishing a number of the receivable transmitters from the second cycle. The number of receivable transmitters from the first cycle are compared with the number of receivable transmitters from the second cycle and, when the numbers of receivable transmitters in the first cycle and the second cycle deviate from one another by a first specifiable value, the first receiving method is switched to a second receiving method.

A user can generate a series of dashboards that comprise indicia or graphics that inform song play performance, radio station airplay performance and insights, generate airplay recommendations and display other information. In an exemplary embodiment, airplay recommendations can include informing the user of song play locations, where a possible space on a radio station's playlist or panel exists. Such possible spaces are opportunities where the user can seek to increase the number of song plays for a desired song at a radio station thus improving the song's rank.

Methods and apparatus for monitoring locally inserted media are disclosed. A disclosed method includes detecting, at a media device at a media presentation location, a cue in media received at the media device; in response to the detection of the cue, receiving separately form the media an advertisement associated with a user of the media device; presenting, by the media device, the media at a first time and the advertisement at a second time indicated by the detected cue; responsive to presenting the advertisement at the second time, recording a log including first identifying information for the media and second identifying information for the advertisement; and transmitting the log to a data collection facility.

Methods and apparatus for monitoring locally inserted media are disclosed. A disclosed method includes detecting, at a media device at a media presentation location, a cue in media received at the media device; in response to the detection of the cue, receiving separately form the media an advertisement associated with a user of the media device; presenting, by the media device, the media at a first time and the advertisement at a second time indicated by the detected cue; responsive to presenting the advertisement at the second time, recording a log including first identifying information for the media and second identifying information for the advertisement; and transmitting the log to a data collection facility.
