The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a method that includes identifying metadata related to television programming. The method further includes sending search requests that include the identified metadata to a search system for selecting at least one portable program module. The method further includes in response to a first one of the search requests, receiving first search results from the search system that identify the selected portable program module and outputting a representation of the selected portable program module to a display device for presentation concurrently with the television programming. The method further includes in response to a second one of the search requests, receiving second search results from the search system that no longer identify the selected portable program module and ceasing the output of the representation of the selected portable program module.

A method, device, system, and media are directed to controlling a multi-tuner radio. A voice command may be received and/or filtered. An operation of the radio may be modified based on the voice command. A gesture input may be received through a gesture pad. Another operation of the multi-tuner radio may be modified based on the received gesture input. A fingerprint may be recognized with a gesture pad. A user may be authenticated based on the recognized fingerprint. The operation or the other operation may be personalized based on the fingerprint. User training may be provided for the gesture input.

Method for Displaying Audio Content Currently Available From Other Sources on a Receiving Device
20210234624 · 2021-07-29 ·

A method for providing information to the user of receiving device of audio content to determine what other content besides that which is currently being listened to is available through the receiving device without changing what is being listened to. This will take information being provided by the sender of the audio content or others and make it available to the user of the receiving device in such a way that they can know in real time, or near real time, what audio content is available through other means on the device. This will allow users to make more informed decisions about changes to the audio content they are listening to, thus preventing or minimizing changes that prove to be misguided due to the content of the channel the user switches to being something they don't want to hear. This will also enable the user to make changes when they become aware, via the information provided about the content of other sources, that there is something they would prefer to hear as compared to that which they are currently listening to as well as compared to the other available options. Essentially, this invention will provide users with information about the audio content choices of a receiving device without the need for the user to sample each source that may or may not have something that the user wishes to listen to.

MULTI-LEVEL MATCHING FACILITATING DELIVERY OF ENHANCED CONTENT

A server receives, from a broadcast station, a message including a station identifier and a list of media-works scheduled for broadcast. The media-works are identified by identifying attributes. The server attempts a first-level match between identifying attributes associated with a first media-work and unique identifiers included in a database. The unique identifiers link content attributes of different media-works to different unique identifiers. The first-level match includes comparing the identifying attributes to the unique identifiers to determine whether an identifying attribute matches any of the unique identifiers stored in the database. If not, a second-level match compares the identifying attributes to content attributes of different media-works to identify content attributes that match the identifying attributes. If the second-level match identifies matching content attributes that link the media-work to a unique identifiers in the database, enhanced content is selected based on that unique identifier, and is delivered to the broadcast station.
