SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DELIVERING MISSED PORTIONS OF MEDIA ASSETS TO INTERESTED VIEWERS
Systems and methods are described herein for efficiently “catching-up” a user that is interested in a media asset when that user has missed a portion of the media asset while consuming the media asset together with other people. The system may detect that multiple people are consuming a media asset and may determine, based on a respective profile of each person, whether that person is interested in the media asset. When the system detects that the user is disregarding the media asset, the missed portion of the media asset is stored if the user is interested in the media asset, and is not stored if the user is not interested in the media asset.
Platform agnostic peer-to-peer networking approach for utilizing multiple user devices with a digital platform
The exemplary embodiments relate to improving the user experience associated with a digital platform. A first user device configured to remotely access a digital platform may receive a first signal broadcast by a second user device. Two or more types of communication protocols that are available to use for establishing a direct communication channel between the user devices are identified. One of the communication protocols is selected and a communication channel is established between the user devices in accordance with the selected communication protocol. The first user device then receives authentication information from the second user and establishes a session with the digital platform based on the authentication information received from the second user device.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DELIVERING ADVERTISEMENT CONTENT TO CONNECTED VEHICLES
Systems and methods for increasing an effect of advertisement delivery are provided. The system includes a server and a connected vehicle. The server may be coupled to a database of advertisements and the connected vehicle having external and internal displays may be coupled to the server. Based on input by a user of the connected vehicle from a starting location to a destination, the connected vehicle may be configured to determine a first maximum reward route, which may be determined based in part on a maximum driving distance, a maximum driving time, or a sum of rewards within a route. The connected vehicle may be configured to receive one or more advertisements from the server for reproduction, which are selected based in part on location information of the connected vehicle, local time information, or attributes of people around the connected vehicle. As a result, the advertisements delivery effect is greatly increased.
EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM MANAGEMENT IN SMART MEDIA DEVICE ECOSYSTEM
A reliable transmission of an EAS message to a user or subscriber of a distribution source, for example, an Internet service and/or cable provider, is provided by utilizing a smart media device (SMD) ecosystem. An SMD is coupled to a distribution source, such as an Internet service provider, cable provider and/or any other service provider. The SMD can transmit the EAS message to a user of the SMD using only the SMD as opposed to relying on externally connected devices as is typically required with traditional systems. The SMD alerts a user as to an event or condition associated with an EAS message and also receives input from a user of the SMD, for example, a confirmation of the EAS message or a request for assistance. The two-way communication provided by the SMD ecosystem enhances the user experience and increases the ability to verifiably alert users to an emergency.
Media exchange between devices
The techniques disclosed herein include a first device for reading one or more tags in metadata, the first device including one or more processors configured to receive metadata, from a second device, wirelessly connected via a sidelink channel to the first device. The one or more processors may also be configured to read the metadata, received from the second device to extract one or more tags representative of audio content, and identify audio content based on the one or more tags, and output the audio content. The first device may also include a memory, coupled to the one or more processors, configured to store the metadata.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRESENTING PROGRAM GUIDE INFORMATION IN AN ELECTRONIC PORTABLE DEVICE
A controlling device is provided with the ability to present personalized program guide information by using personal preferences provided to a home computing device. The personal preferences are used to filter program guide data received at the home computing device whereby the program guide data will include only programming information for user-specified sources of programming for each of plural, different user-specified periods of time. The filtered program guide data is then downloaded to the controlling device from the home computing device for use in connection with an application of the controlling device that functions to display program guide information within a display of the controlling device.

MESH NETWORK BASED AUTOMATED UPLOAD OF CONTENT TO AIRCRAFT
The Automated Content Upload System networks a plurality of aircraft together when they are parked at the gates of an airport. Communications among the aircraft are guided by a Content Manager, resident at or near the airport, which maintains data representative of InFlight Entertainment Content presently stored on each aircraft and the list of scheduled InFlight Entertainment Content available on each aircraft. The Content Manager guides the exchange of InFlight Entertainment Content among the aircraft, as well as from the Content Manager to the aircraft, to automatically distribute InFlight Entertainment Content to the aircraft efficiently and timely. This process includes the ability to multicast data from the Content Manager to multiple aircraft in a single transmission, obtaining content delivery efficiency, populating multiple aircraft via a single transmission from the Content Manager. Furthermore, the Content Manager can supplement this process via transmissions to the aircraft in flight over the Air-To-Ground link.

Enhanced radio systems and methods
An enhanced radio system is disclosed that provides for the capture and playback of one or more radio stations. A user may tune to a station, scan through stations, rewind through missed content (even while the system is off), and fast-forward through undesired content, while downloading and uploading audio content, and sending content to another user. A user may rate content, and be notified when that content is played on any station, with undesirable content skipped and desirable content saved, or station recommendations made. Support for multiple sets of configuration information to allow use by multiple listeners and in multiple locations may be provided. Optionally provided are security features to prevent the unauthorized downloading, uploading, and saving of copies of content, other radio related and content related information, a karaoke mode, integration with a telephone with the radio, or reporting usage information to a collection facility.
