AUGMENTED INTERACTIVITY FOR BROADCAST PROGRAMS

Disclosed is an audience app, a computing device that allows the user to select a broadcast program, establish a wireless communication channel with a remote server, transmit program selection data identifying the selected broadcast program to the remote server, receive auxiliary program information content, data and/or instructions correlated to the selected broadcast program, and using the auxiliary program information, generate and display local content correlated to and in temporal coordination with the selected broadcast program. Also disclosed are a server that serves the audience app, a broadcast interactivity system comprising the server, a show management server, a show preparation computing device, and a social history server, and a broadcast interactivity system with at least one audio fingerprint server.

Apparatus and method for accessing star network/mesh network of time division multiple access (TDMA)/single channel per carrier (SCPC) integrated satellite communication

Disclosed is a star network/mesh network accessing method and apparatus of a terminal in a satellite communication system, the method including receiving time slot resources from a central station and operating in a time division multiple access (TDMA) start network communication mode between the central station and a terminal, transferring, to the central station, a TDMA mesh network connection request message for a destination terminal, receiving traffic burst time plan (TBTP) information corresponding to the TDMA mesh network connection request message from the central station and operating in a TDMA mesh network communication mode between terminals, and switching from the TDMA mesh network communication mode between the terminals to a single channel per carrier (SCPC) mesh network communication mode between the terminals when Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic is greater than a threshold.

A system and method for collaborative broadcasting and bi-directional network transmission. Such a system may comprise a broadcast transmission source that uses a one-to-many broadcasting method, a bi-directional network that uses a one-to-one broadcasting method, and a receiver apparatus configured to receive broadcasts from the broadcast transmission source and communicate with the bi-directional network. When the receiver apparatus receives a broadcast from the broadcast transmission source, and when the broadcast is partially damaged or missing, the receiver apparatus is configured to communicate with the bi-directional network and request the damaged or missing data.

Uninterrupted satellite communications during vehicle movement
10263718 · 2019-04-16 · ·

A satellite receiver in a vehicle continues to receive satellite communications even when line-of-sight to the satellite becomes obscured by obtaining a stream of the satellite broadcast via an ad hoc network. When the satellite receiver determines that the satellite broadcast signal is being lost (or is about to be lost), the satellite receiver transmits a request message on an alternate wireless channel seeking an alternate source for the satellite media program. Another satellite receiver that is able to receive the broadcast replies to the request message, and an ad hoc communication session is established with the alternate source via an alternate wireless channel. The receiver is therefore able to receive the media program from the alternate source via the ad hoc session instead of the satellite broadcast signal.

A system comprises a first server including a port, a memory, a processor operatively coupled to the port and memory, and a service application for execution by the processor. The service application is configured to: receive identification information related to an over-the-air radio broadcast via the port of the first server, wherein the identification information is transmitted to the first server using a radio broadcast receiver remote from the first server, communicate a request for automatic content recognition (ACR) of an Internet-based streaming version of the over-the-air radio broadcast; and receive metadata associated with the over-the-air radio broadcast in response to the request and initiate transmission of the metadata to the radio broadcast receiver.
