CONTINUOUS WAVE OPTICAL TWO-WAY TIME TRANSFER
Embodiments herein describe a continuous wave two-way optical time two-way transfer system. The embodiments herein lock a local frequency comb to a clock (e.g., optical/microwave atomic clock, Fabry-Perot optical reference cavity, etc.) in a local platform. The platform then generates two CW optical signals with different frequencies and locks those optical signals to the local frequency comb. The local platform then transmits its two CW optical signals to a remote platform and receives CW optical signals (having approximately the same frequencies as the two CW optical signals generated by the local platform) from the remote platform. Based on comparing its local CW optical signals with the received CW optical signals, the local platform can determine a timing deviation between its clock and a clock in the second platform.
BIDIRECTIONAL COMMUNICATION MODULE
In an example, a communication module includes an optical transmitter, an optical receiver, and a periodical filter. The optical transmitter is configured to emit an outbound optical signal. The optical receiver is configured to receive an inbound optical signal. A first frequency of the outbound optical signal is offset from a second frequency of the inbound optical signal by an amount less than a channel spacing of a multiplexer/demultiplexer implemented in an optical communication system that includes the communication module. The periodical filter is positioned in optical paths of both the outbound optical signal and the inbound optical signal and has a transmission spectrum with periodic transmission peaks and troughs. The first frequency of the outbound optical signal may be aligned to one of the transmission peaks and the second frequency of the inbound optical signal may be aligned to one of the transmission troughs, or vice versa.

Optical multiplex level and optical channel layer server trails in wavelength switched optical networks
An optical network packet configured to transmit over an optical communication link from a first optical network having a first control plane to a second optical network having a second control plane is generated. Generating the optical network packet comprises generating the packet configured to be transmitted from the first optical network to the second optical network in the optical domain.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FULL DUPLEX COHERENT OPTICS
A full duplex communication network includes an optical transmitter end having a first coherent optics transceiver, an optical receiver end having a second coherent optics transceiver, and an optical transport medium operably coupling the first coherent optics transceiver to the second coherent optics transceiver. The first coherent optics transceiver is configured to (i) transmit a downstream optical signal at a first wavelength, and (ii) simultaneously receive an upstream optical signal at a second wavelength. The second coherent optics transceiver is configured to (i) receive the downstream optical signal, and (ii) simultaneously transmit the upstream optical signal. The first wavelength has a first center frequency separated from a second center frequency of the second wavelength.
