Embodiments of a method performed by a wireless device for receiving and interpreting a Downlink Control Information (DCI) message having a flexible DCI format and embodiments of a corresponding wireless device are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device for receiving and interpreting a DCI message comprises receiving a DCI message from a base station and obtaining a DCI formatting indicator for the DCI message. The DCI formatting indicator is an indicator related to a flexible-interpretation DCI format, wherein the flexible-interpretation DCI format is a DCI format for which bits are interpreted differently based on the DCI formatting indicator. The method further comprises interpreting the DCI message in accordance with the DCI formatting indicator. Embodiments of a method performed by a base station for transmitting a DCI message having a flexible DCI format and embodiments of a corresponding base station are disclosed.

Method and apparatus for packet wash in networks

A method for communicating a data packet, the method includes receiving a data packet that supports a packet wash operation. The method determines whether the data packet can be forwarded along a network path towards a destination node without any modification. If the data packet cannot be forwarded along the network path towards the destination node without modification, the method determines whether conditions are met for performing the packet wash operation on the data packet. If the conditions are met, the packet wash operation is performed to generate a washed data packet. The packet wash operation generates the washed data packet by modifying a size of a payload of the data packet based on a packet wash specification that associates attributes to a plurality of data payload portions of the payload of the data packet. The washed data packet is forwarded along the network path towards the destination node.

Latency reduction techniques for radio access networks are described. In various embodiments, a reduced transmission time interval (rTTI) may be implemented in order to reduce air interface latency in a radio access network. In some embodiments, an rTTI block may be defined, and some operations may be performed in rTTI block-wise fashion in order to reduce the marginal overhead associated with implementation of the rTTI. In various embodiments in which an rTTI is implemented, DM-RS granularity may be improved by use of techniques that enable data and reference signals to be multiplexed within a same OFDM symbol. In some embodiments, a current transmission time interval (TTI) may be maintained, and latency reduction may be achieved via the use of novel techniques for one or more of code block (CB) segmentation, uplink (UL) resource element (RE) mapping and HARQ cycle timing.
