METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING CODE BLOCK INTERLEAVING
Methods and apparatus are provided for managing code block interleaving and de-interleaving in wireless communication systems. A transmitter detects one or more conditions related to transmissions to be made from the transmitter and decides, based on the detection, to disable an interleaver while processing the transmissions, the interleaver used to spread code blocks over available resources. A receiver detects one or more conditions relating to the transmissions from the transmitter and determines, based on the detection, whether an interleaver was used at the transmitter while processing the transmissions. The receiver decides whether or not to de-interleave code blocks of the received transmission based on the determination.
Method and apparatus for controlling data rate of a reverse link in a communication system
Various aspects of the invention provide for determining data rate for a reverse link communication by determining packets of data for transmission for a number of communication services, determining a data rate for transmission of the packets of data based on an arrangement of the packets of data in a queue allowing for meeting the transmission deadline for each of the packets of data. The base station determines whether available resources allow for allocation at the base station for transmission from the mobile station at the determined data rate and duration. The mobile station drops at least a packet of data of the packets of data in the queue to determine a new queue of packets of data. The new queue of the packets of data is used to determine a new data rate for communication on the reverse link.
Configuration of control channels in a mobile communication system
The invention relates to a method, apparatus and system for configuring control channels in a mobile communication network and a mobile station. In order to suggest another improved scheme for configuring control channels, in particular control channels related to the transmission of user data the invention suggests aligning the size of the control channel information of different formats to an equal number of coded control channel information bits and/or modulation symbols for each control channel. The control channels may comprise scheduling related control information. According to another aspect of the invention, the size of the control channel information is aligned by means of modulation and/or coding, however the control channel information is aligned to one out of a set of numbers of coded control channel information bits and/or modulation symbols for each control channel.
GENERIC PHYSICAL LAYER DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION DESIGN
A base station device can adaptively assemble the downlink control information using a plurality of information segments and then transmit the assembled downlink control information to a mobile device. The information segments can each represent different control functions and the base station device can select relevant and appropriate information segments to include in the downlink control information based on the features represented in the downlink data transmission and the mobile device. If the downlink data transmission does not have a certain feature, the base station device can leave the information segment relevant to the feature out of the downlink control information. Additionally, when new features are introduced, new information segments can be added without defining a new downlink control information format.
Data rate control in soft handoff and during cell-switching
Systems and methods for controlling a data rate of a transmission in a wireless communication system during handoff are described herein. In some embodiments, controlling the data rate includes receiving transmissions from a plurality of base stations, wherein each received transmission includes a data rate control indicator, and adjusting the data rate of the transmission during handoff based on the data rate control indicators from the plurality of base stations.
Pilots for MIMO communication systems
Pilots suitable for use in MIMO systems and capable of supporting various functions are described. The various types of pilot includea beacon pilot, a MIMO pilot, a steered reference or steered pilot, and a carrier pilot. The beacon pilot is transmitted from all transmit antennas and may be used for timing and frequency acquisition. The MIMO pilot is transmitted from all transmit antennas but is covered with different orthogonal codes assigned to the transmit antennas. The MIMO pilot may be used for channel estimation. The steered reference is transmitted on specific eigenmodes of a MIMO channel and is user terminal specific. The steered reference may be used for channel estimation. The carrier pilot may be transmitted on designated subbands/antennas and may be used for phase tracking of a carrier signal. Various pilot transmission schemes may be devised based on different combinations of these various types of pilot.
COLLABORATIVE COMMUNICATIONS
Data traffic routing and/or transmission parameter adaption decisions are made at a sending node by considering error patterns of one or more possible receiving nodes at the bit level. Data traffic routing and/or transmission parameter adaption decisions may be used to preemptively prevent data errors from occurring as data traffic is transmit by a sending node. The error pattern information may include information on numbers of bit errors in a code word or information on relative randomness or burstiness of bit error patterns at the one or more possible receiving nodes. The collaboratively shared error pattern information may be determined and updated over time intervals or upon selected conditions occurring. In one embodiment, a next hop node may be determined using bit error patterns of neighbor nodes. In another embodiment, transmission parameter adaption or channel selection may be determined using bit error patterns.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OFFERING SUBSCRIBER SERVICE PLANS BY ADAPTIVE CODING AND MODULATION USED
A method for providing service levels in a Radio Frequency (RF) network is disclosed. The method including: associating one or more service levels with each supported symbol rate, modulation and error correction encoded scheme (ModCod); assigning a subscriber service level for a RF transmitter; receiving a signal quality of a transmission by the RF transmitter; selecting a transmit ModCod from the supported ModCods, wherein the signal quality exceeds a threshold signal quality for the transmit ModCod; and authorizing the RF transmitter to transmit to the receiver when the subscriber service level is included in the one or more service levels associated with the transmit ModCod, wherein signal quality adapts to a signal fade.
Multicast channel control information
The present disclosure relates to a technique for configuring transmission of a multicast channel carrying scheduling information and data belonging to one or more multicast services, the scheduling information indicating scheduling of the multicast services mapped to the multicast channel. A method embodiment comprises the steps of configuring (404) the transmission of the scheduling information on the multicast channel based on a scheduling information specific transmission requirement and configuring (404) the transmission of the data belonging to the one or more multicast services based on a service specific transmission requirement; and signalling (406) the scheduling information specific transmission requirement and the service specific transmission requirement.
